Have passport, will travel! A travel themed wedding at Cellar 52 | Julia & Andrew

Have passport, will travel! That is a motto that Julia and Andrew can relate to. Their love of travel dictated the theme and feel for their wedding. They brought their love of seeing the world to their big day to share with their friends and family…

Bride & Groom: Julia Beckford & Andrew Mason

Wedding Date: August 25, 2018

Ceremony & Reception Location: Cellar 52 (cellar52.ca) “We wanted somewhere that was unique and new. At the time when Andrew and I viewed the space it was under construction. We also wanted somewhere that was intimate so we could connect with our guests.” – J

Colour Palette: Marsala & Navy

Theme: “Andrew and I both love to travel; we had a travel themed wedding. Our table numbers were travel themed globes, our seating assignments were boarding passes, we had different cuisine from around the world and our MC incorporated many travel themed games with travel themed prizes.” – J

Flowers & Décor: Universal Wedding Décor (universalweddingdecor.com) did our flowers and decor. We wanted lots of red roses and large floral arrangements consisting of greenery, white peony and roses. We kept with the marsala & navy scheme for the table settings and had one large floral backdrop for the head table and another large backdrop in the ceremony space.” -J

Fav décor element: “My favorite element would be the reception space back drop!” -J

DIY: “Yes, all of the table numbers, seating arrangement cards, memory table and candy bar were DIY elements.” – J&A

Entertainment/Wedding Favours: “Andrew and I opted to have a caricaturist at the wedding to draw live portraits of our guests as a thank you. We hired Dani Woods-Caricatures (daniwoods.com) who runs her own personal caricature business. Although our wedding was in St. Jacobs, she committed to drive from the GTA to work our wedding. She was great to work with, very friendly.” – J&A

Cake: Refined Sugar (refinedsugar.ca) “We had the most unique flavoured wedding cake. We opted for Gingerbread flavoured cake with vanilla chai buttercream. Delicious.” – J

Invitations/stationery: Etsy “Additions such as the cake topper, guest signing book, groomsmen and bridesmaids proposal gifts came from Etsy. Etsy is a great website for brides who are looking to add their personal touch.” – J

Groomsmen and Groom’s attire: Moores Clothing for Men (mooresclothing.com)

Bride’s and Bridesmaids attire and accessories: David’s Bridal (davidsbridal.ca)

DJ: DJ Prophet (djprophet.com)

Hair & Make-up: Gina’s Spa for hair (ginaspa.com) & Jasmeet K for Make-Up

Catering: Beckford & Gusto Catering (beckfordcatering.ca)

Photographer: “My husband searched for a photographer that matched our budget. We decided to work with Jonathan Jang from ephotostudio (ephotostudio.ca) He is based out of Mississauga, Ontario. He had a great deal at the time which included our engagement photos and he was willing to drive to St. Jacobs to work our wedding. He was very patient and gave us lots of good feedback. He was great! Our favourite part of taking our photos was all of the great shots we got with our friends and family.” – J&A

Biggest challenge: “Our biggest challenge was our budget which was constantly changing. I am very particular when it comes to detail and I wanted a wedding that was simple, classy and a wedding that people would remember. All of my demands came at a cost but it was well worth it!” – J

Fav wedding memory: “August 25th, 2018 was the only Saturday in the entire month that it rained all afternoon. The ceremony was set to be outside with no back up plan (crazy, I know). The best part of our wedding was when the clouds rolled away and the sun came out literally minutes before the ceremony was set to start. It was everything I imagined to walk down the aisle with our closest friends and family by our side.” – J&A

Advice from one couple to another: “Always make decisions as a couple and ask your caterer to pack a to-go bag so you have something to eat after the reception!” – J&A
