“With our wedding being in 2022, right after the height of Covid, it was a very busy and expensive wedding season. We had a hard time finding vendors that were available and in our price range. We were so happy with everyone who was a part of our day. When we began the planning process, we thought about what values we wanted to be the theme of our wedding. We wanted it to be creative and cohesive, filled with joy & a celebration of the grace of God in our lives, to be a fusion of our cultures, and to honour our family and friends who mean so much to us.

A special detail we had was, we wrote personalized messages for each guest on the place cards at the reception, which was really appreciated. In lieu of favours, we donated to the lunch program at a school in Haiti that is run by a good friend of ours and had the students draw pictures that we used for cards for each guest. We also had little bags with a colouring book, crayons, toys, and candy for the kids who attended our wedding so that they would be entertained during the ceremony.”

“It was really important to us that all the details in our wedding were cohesive. Our colour palette had bright pinks, oranges, greens, and burgundy to contrast against the pine colour of our bridesmaid dresses. As a graphic designer, I couldn’t wait to design all the details! I wanted the colours, fonts, and graphics to be incorporated into every piece of our wedding. We incorporated the bright colours into our flowers, stationery, chair markers, table settings, and our website. We also added different pieces of filipino culture into our wedding; with a halo-halo bar, abaniko fans, and Filipino snacks at the reception. – J 

The Couple’s Take On Their Vibrant Wedding

BIGGEST CHALLENGE “Our biggest challenge was staying within our budget, while not compromising on quality. This meant that we had to search for a long time to find what we were looking for, but it also meant that at the end of the day – we were thrilled with our vendors, and had no regrets with our spending.”

BEST MEMORY “Our favourite memory was our wedding dance. We started with the typical wedding dance songs. had some sea shanties (Barrett’s Privateers, The Night that Patty Murphy Died), lots of Taylor Swift, and finished the dance off with just Marck and I and our photographers/videographers.”

Advice From The Happy Couple

ADVICE FROM ONE COUPLE TO ANOTHER: “Reach out to friends and family for vendor recommendations! TikTok has great ideas! Most importantly, support one another and be gracious to each other through the planning process – it will be stressful, but remember that you are doing this WITH your partner. No matter how stressful things can be leading up to your day, the day itself is the time to let yourself relax, spend time with family and friends, and enjoy everything with your partner.”
