TELL US YOUR STORY: “We had many many setbacks while wedding planning. We started with a completely different wedding than we actually ended up with. We were going to have everything at Victoria Park with around 100 people. Then after realizing that COVID restrictions were worse in 2021 than in 2020, we ended up cutting our list down to 25. In March of 2021, my mom booked the Waterloo Regional Police Association as a safeguard because they have beautiful grounds that would give us the option of an outdoor wedding that our current venue wouldn’t. By the end of May, our original venue asked if we wanted to cancel our booking as every other couple in July had already. So we followed suit and canceled leaving us with absolutely no plans for what to do next. All we had was the WRPA which was our saving grace. So 2 months before the wedding, I met with Jackie at WRPA and within an hour she had planned our entire outdoor wedding including a backup in case of rain. And thank god for that backup because the entire week leading up to our wedding it was supposed to rain. Of course, the only day that week it did rain was on our wedding day. I’m surprised we didn’t drive Jackie crazy because we wanted to stay outside no matter what. We were struggling to give her the go-ahead to set everything up inside to the point that we left it till that morning to concede.
I (the bride) spent the morning at my parents’ house trying to stay calm and not let the stress get to me. We originally planned that we wouldn’t see each other till the ceremony, but as I was on my way to get my hair done I called Justin and said ‘I’m feeling extremely nervous and what I need to feel better is to see you. So when I get to the venue come out to see me, okay?’ Justin said he couldn’t handle the whole day not seeing me as it was too stressful. The limo ride to the venue was the longest either of us had ever experienced and once we saw each other we were just able to release all the emotions we were feeling. The ceremony was extremely special thanks to our officiant Kat Dimou. She performed a Celtic handfasting ceremony for us which we will remember forever. My veil ended up falling off right when I got up to the end of the aisle but none of it mattered because Justin was there. After it was all said and done, we had the most amazing day and, honestly, we wouldn’t change it for the world. It ended up being so special and just so us! We couldn’t have had such a special day without the amazing help from all of our vendors and we can’t thank them enough!” – A
