All you need is love... and

Rustic beauty was the perfect way to describe Jessica and Jamie’s wedding. With a colour palette of navy and peach and Ball’s Falls as the backdrop, they were able to achieve the perfect atmosphere for their special day.

DATE: August 21, 2022

LOCATION: Ball’s Falls Conservation Area (npca.ca/weddings) “I grew up in the area and have always loved Ball’s Falls and thought it was a beautiful location. The venue was great to work with, easy to communicate with, and accommodating.” – J

COLOUR PALETTE: “We went with navy, ice blue, peach/coral, and silver accents.” – J

THEME: “We wanted a rustic theme, with fairly minimal décor to let the barn and beautiful wood building shine through. We used clear glass cylinder vases for candle holders on wood rounds with some simple floral touches. Family and friends also pitched in to make other rustic touches – everything from signs to re-upholstering the chairs for our head table. Shirl’s Florals and Seasonal went with gorgeous additions for the reception, like wooden crates, Edison bulbs, a stunning chandelier, and our refurbished head table which really completed our theme.”-J

NOTABLE VENDOR: “Our photographer. I posted in a wedding group online looking for recommendations and Heart to Heart was highly recommended. After speaking with Stefanyie compared to the other photographers I spoke with, we just clicked. She knew what she was talking about, and I felt confident that I wouldn’t have to worry about giving her instructions to get photos I would like. Working with Stefanyie and Elliott was great! They were lots of fun to work with and knew how to put everyone at ease and have fun throughout the day while still getting everything done! I love that whenever Stefaynie was taking photos, Elliott was also shooting but from another angle. We got some truly stunning photos from different viewpoints.” – J

TELL US YOUR STORY: “I grew up near Balls Falls Conservation area in Vineland. In 2015, I moved to England to begin my teaching career after graduating from Brock and Nipissing Universities. It was an amazing new adventure and quickly one work visa expired, and much to Mom’s dismay, I applied for my second visa. It was after this that in I met my future husband, Jamie, in a local pub.

On the next trip home, I brought my new British beau home to meet mom, dad, and all the other family that caught wind of his visit. They were in love (and so was I)! As time went on, we visited Canada another Christmas and summer, as well as lots of other adventures throughout Europe, but then covid hit and our trips stopped. I think lockdowns were the true test, after surviving living together through the many lockdowns that the UK had (believe it or not we had more than Canada!) – we knew it was meant to be. We did have an amazing private flight over Kent and the cliffs of Dover planned, but covid had other plans, and I tested positive meaning our engagement had to be a Facetime call with my parents to ask for their blessing. One for the books that is for sure, couldn’t have made it up!” – J

BIGGEST CHALLENGE: “Planning our wedding in Canada from England! Although I grew up in Vineland, I now live in England, so planning our wedding mostly through emails and video chats was the biggest challenge. Thankfully I had lots of support from my family and friends to get things done when I couldn’t physically be there for some appointments.” – J

BEST MEMORY: “Having Jamie’s family attend from England was one thing that made our big day truly special. We had 16 guests from the United Kingdom that were able to attend and were so happy to be able to show them around Canada for the next time.” -J

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES: “It will be stressful! Be kind to each other when you are stressed out and don’t be afraid to ask others for help. Also, don’t sweat the small stuff, if it’s not needed, don’t bother and if it goes wrong it’s not the end of the day – your day will still be magical!” – J&J
