NOTABLE VENDOR: “Our venue. We were looking for a venue with good value, and a place that doesn’t mandate a particular caterer. Since we were hoping for more unique and ethnic food and drink options. KPL offered us a beautiful environment and provided us the flexibility to incorporate that was important to us.”-G

TELL US YOUR STORY: “We met as grad students at MIT in Boston, and the sparks flew instantly. We connected over music and live theatre, with our first date to see the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, and other shows afterward, including Rent and The Color Purple. Graduating threw a wrench in the mix as the relationship became long-distance, since I found myself as a postdoc near San Francisco, while she was a software engineer in Seattle. Long distance became longer, as I moved to Waterloo to start my job as a professor, and hard became harder as the pandemic made travel even more difficult. Nonetheless, love prevailed as I proposed on a getaway to Carmel-By-The-Sea, California. She moved to Waterloo to join me shortly afterward, and we worked quickly to tie the knot.” – G

BIGGEST CHALLENGE: “Planning all the details took more time and attention than expected. It felt like a part-time job. Organization was key. We made a list of all the TO DOs, and set aside a few hours each evening to ensure we were making progress.” – G

BEST MEMORY: “Seeing the whole day executed as the culmination of months of planning” – G&Y

ADVICE: “Be organized and start early! Try to get help from your close friends and family, if you can.” – G
