All you need is love... and

Alex and Matthew were hoping for a winter wonderland wedding in February, but Mother Nature had other plans! They still had a beautiful day with a black, white and mulberry colour palette and gorgeous florals.

COUPLE: Alex and Matthew

DATE: February 11, 2023

GUEST #: 200

LOCATION: London Hunt and Country Club  “The London Hunt and Country Club was the venue of the first charity event we went to together, and was the wedding venue of Matthew’s good friend Laura who is a member at the club. It was the first and only venue that we looked at. The Hunt Club’s Event Coordinator Ginny was a dream to work with and made everything so easy for us.” – A&M

TELL US YOUR STORY

“Our story starts in 2019 with our first date – dinner out in downtown London. We quickly came to the realization that we had both worked for the same organization, but never actually crossed paths. We also bonded over the importance of family, friends, and travelling. After a few months of dating, COVID-19 hit and what we thought would be a fun week of living together in isolation turned into us moving in together, adopting our dog, Sky, from the London & Middlesex Humane Society, and buying a home.

The Engagement

We rang in the 2022 New Year by getting engaged at our house followed by a limo ride around town – and got married in 2023. The next step in our journey as a married couple is starting our family through surrogacy.” – A

BIGGEST CHALLENGE: “The biggest challenge for us was the last couple of months before the wedding. This is when lots of the coordinating with the vendors about final details, outstanding payments, and last minute questions were coming in. We tackled this by leaning heavy on the Event Coordinator of our venue, and our family and friends to help make sure we had everything covered for the big day.” – A&M

FAVOURITE MEMORY: “Aside from being in a room with all of your favourite people – we both agree that our favourite moment was seeing the venue when it was all put together the day of the wedding. We both got ready at the same venue, but on different floors to avoid seeing each other before the ceremony. So the wedding parties had to coordinate us getting a first look at the décor without seeing each other. But when we saw everything all put together for our winter wonderland wedding, it took our breath away. Especially the beautiful flowers.” – A

ADVICE FROM ONE COUPLE TO ANOTHER: “Embracing not everything will go exactly to plan! For us, the one thing we did not expect was warm weather the week before our winter wonderland wedding. Our vision was a winter wonderland wedding in February with lots of snow. But it just happened to rain 20mm the week before the wedding, which took away a lot of the snow. But we were left with the most perfect sunny day and were able to take pictures all over the venue without stomping through the snow.” – A&M
