All you need is love... and

A Proposal Story | When Francis Osei-Bonsu popped the question to Meagan Dumont, not only was the moment a complete surprise, but it was captured forever in the lens of Anne Edgar Photography & Films (anneedgarphoto.com). So with some careful planning and the help of an expert photographer, Francis’s secret plot to surprise his soulmate after four years together – and catch it on camera – was pulled off without a hitch at the always gorgeous Mill Race Park in Cambridge, Ontario.

Planning a surprise proposal…

Meagan had no idea that she was about to get engaged. And she certainly didn’t know she’d also be photographed doing so.

Meagan says that Francis told her he was having a work function at which he was being presented an award. She says, “He actually won the award, so this part was believable for me!” Francis had asked his boss to send Meagan an email describing the date, location, attire and all other details for that day. “Francis’s boss said that is was important for me to be there because it was more about his personal story, rather than his professional one and that Anne Edgar was the photographer for all the corporate events.” Meagan was under the impression that they would be taking professional photos. “Anne went right along with it! When we got to the location she told me that we would take some couple shots for the magazine and then some personal shots of just Francis, and his award. Anne perfectly placed us (with a beautiful background), but then Francis kissed my cheek, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!”

“I was shocked, confused, and ecstatic all at the same time!” says Meagan.

Finding the right photographer for the perfect surprise proposal…

Francis searched through various local photographers before settling on  Anne Edgar Photography (anneedgarphoto.com). He says he chose Anne because she responded in a timely manner, she was very professional, and she had an outstanding portfolio or pictures! Francis met with her twice before the big day and was happy to see that she was very open to his ideas. Meagan loved working with Anne. “She had an awesome personality and was easy to work with. She had great ideas and allowed us to have some input and share some of our ideas. She let us look through the pictures as we went along with our engagement shoot.”

Our favourite part of our photos is how she captured the raw emotion of our engagement. We will always have these pictures to remind us of that amazing day in our lives.”

ADVICE, ONE COUPLE TO ANOTHER:

  • Take time to relax and enjoy your engagement.
  • Take your time sharing the news: Francis and I told all of our family and friends before rushing into posting it on social media. I spent several days trying to process everything.
  • What we have realized is that the wedding is what you want it to be, so sit down as a couple and discuss what you both want and then start the planning process.
