{Real Wedding Story} Simply Rustic | Lauren & David

BRIDE & GROOM: Lauren & David Croucher

WEDDING DATE: June 1st, 2019

LOCATION: Cutten Fields (cuttenfields.com) Guelph, ON “After looking at many different venues we ultimately chose Cutten Fields because it checked all of our boxes. The ceremony location was private with a wooden arbour, the reception room had a great view of the city and a beautiful stone fireplace as a focal point, the food was very highly praised, prices were reasonable, and it was close to home for us.” – L

PHOTOGRAPHY: Simply Wedding Photography (♥) (simplyweddingphotography.ca) Guelph, ON “We found Jacqueline through online searches for local photographers, and after meeting with her and viewing her portfolio decided she would be a great fit for our day! She was professional but also made us feel comfortable and had a great sense of humour. On the day of the wedding, she was very calm, even with unplanned things that came up. Her second shooter, Amanda, did a great job wrangling the groom’s party! We were not initially going to have two photographers but in the end, we were grateful to have photos taken from different angles and viewpoints. They were a great team!” – L

THEME: “Our wedding was simple with some rustic elements. The colours we chose were grey, purple, sage green and white.” – L

GUESTS: 75

FLORALS: Acorn Flower Shoppe (acornflowershoppe.ca) Oakville, ON

DIY: “We chose to do the décor ourselves, with help from family. The venue had a lot of elements that worked well. The wooden arbour at the ceremony site had greenery growing around it in the spring. the reception room had a large stone fireplace and wooden beams on the ceiling that they decorated with lights. Since we did a round table for the bridal party, we decorated the fireplace mantle with the bridesmaid’s flowers, lanterns provided by the venue, and the last name sign I made at Muse Studio & Market, Guelph. My cousin is an apple farmer so we used wooden apple crates to display the cupcakes. My dad built a barnboard frame for the seating chart. Our card box was a large lantern and our guest book was a photo book with pictures from throughout our relationship made at Costco. I also made the table menus, table numbers, place cards, and seating chart cards.” L

BIGGEST CHALLENGE: “Our biggest challenge was choosing a venue and narrowing down vendors with so many options available. We found that a lot of venues had either a minimum number of guests that was higher than we wanted or couldn’t fit as many people as we were inviting. Visiting the venues helped us narrow it down for the final decision.” – L

ADVICE, ONE COUPLE TO ANOTHER: “Try to relax and enjoy the day knowing you have worked so hard to plan it! Expect that there will be things that don’t go according to plan, most of which you can’t control, so do your best to roll with it. Your wedding is a celebration of love between you and your partner so let that be the focus and have fun!” – L & D
