Plan Your Fabulous Local Wedding

Kate and Adam knew Liuna Station was the perfect place to have their wedding and NovaMarkina Photography (novamarkina.com) was the one capture it!  With some beautiful flowers, candles and a touch of family history they were able to make their day one to remember…

Bride & Groom: Kate & Adam Luscombe

Wedding Date: September 9, 2017

Ceremony & Reception Location(s): Ceremony: St. Patrick’s Church in Hamilton, Reception: Liuna Station (liunaevents.com) in Hamilton
“We visited several locations before selecting Liuna Station but loved the character and history of this building. Many of my relatives (grandfathers, uncles & cousins) currently & previously have worked on the railroad (CP Rail). As Liuna station is a historic CP Rail station converted into a venue, it held significance for me and my family!” – K

Colour Palette: Ivory, gold & pale blue

Theme: “The overall theme of our wedding was simple elegance. It was truly a dream day for Adam and I! We tried to make all of our selections fall within this theme. From Adam’s ivory coloured tux to the soft baby blue of the off shoulder dresses the bridesmaids wore, to our organic ivory bouquets, the day came together beautifully!” – K

Flowers:Patzee’s Floral scapes (patzees.com) did all of our florals and décor. All flowers were ivory & green with a touch of earthy elegance.” – K

Décor: Patzee’s Floral Scapes (patzees.com) “We used lots of fresh flowers with 3 unique centrepieces throughout the reception hall. The first of the three was a large oversized apple blossom arrangement in a 5ft clear vase. The medium sized vase filled with unique cuts of corkscrew hazel. And, finally a short clear glass bowl with floating flowers and candle surround.” – K

Fav décor element: “My personal favourite were two extra large fresh arrangements framing up the head table. They were so huge that they made a big impact in the space!” – K

DIY: “We did welcome bags for all of our guests staying at the hotel. Inside there were a number of different snacks, Perrier, champagne and a list of activities happening over our wedding weekend. We wanted our guests to feel very welcome upon arrival! We also made all of our own menu’s, church programs, tags for our favors and place cards.” – K

Invitations/stationery: Carlson Craft Wedding Invitations (carlsoncraftproducts.com)

Cake: Grandma’s Oven Bakery (grandmasoven.ca)

Wedding favours: Grandma’s Oven Bakery – Chocolate Truffles

Groomsmen and Groom’s attire: “Groomsmen suits were from Bud Gowan Rental (facebook.com/BudGowanLondon) and Adam’s tux was ivory and from Macy’s (macys.com)” – K

“One of the big highlights of the reception for our guests was the Supreme Antipasto Bar put out by Liuna Station. It was a magnificent display of meats, cheeses, raw seafood bar, salads, antipasto etc. Guests who attended our wedding still talk about it as a highlight a year later!”

Bridesmaids attire and accessories: “Dresses were from Nicholas & Elizabeth (nicholasandelizabeth.com), earrings I purchased for the girls from Swarovski.” – K

Bride’s dress and accessories: “My dress was from Sophie’s Gown Shoppe (sophiesgownshoppe.com) and my veil was borrowed from my sister! My earrings were from Marlena Dupelle (marlenadupellejewelry.com) and my shoes were Badgley Mischka (badgleymischka.com)” – K

DJ: DJ Alpha Productions (djalpha.ca)

Hair & make-up: Makeup by Melanie White (facebook.com/Melanie-White-Artistry) and Hair by Courtney Sobko at Taz Hair (tazhair.com)

Photographer: “We used NovaMarkina Photography (novamarkina.com) as our photographer and she was AMAZING! I cannot say enough good things about Nova. Nova photographed my sister’s wedding the summer before ours. My family was so happy with the whole experience that when it was our turn to choose a photographer the decision was already made.
My favorite part of the photos is how many amazing candid shots we got. The photos not only captured the special moments in the day but the feeling that went along with them. Nova also did a highlight video for us. That said, I didn’t tell my husband! Matt and Nova filmed the whole day without Adam knowing. My husband Adam’s birthday is in October so Nova was sure to have the video back to me just in time for me to surprise him and boy was it ever a surprise!!!” – K

Biggest challenge: “The biggest challenge when we began planning our wedding was finding a venue that met all of our criteria. We knew we were going to have around 250 people. With that in mind, most of the winery choices that we initially looked at could not accommodate our numbers. When we stumbled on Liuna Station it ticked all of our boxes and we knew we had found our dream venue!” – K

Fav wedding memory: “The best memory of our wedding for me was our first dance. We danced to ‘Perfect’ by Ed Sheeran and at that moment it felt like we were the only people in the room. After many months of planning this was the moment when we finally locked eyes and could just relax in the bliss of our wedding day!!” – K

Advice from one couple to another: “The more time you put into planning the details of your wedding day beforehand, the less worrying on your big day. Many things in the planning process may seem excessive but you will be thanking yourself on the day of when everything is planned perfectly and you can enjoy every moment without a moment of stress!” – K
