Love is brewing at Revival House | Devyn & Lauren

Devyn & Lauren wanted to showcase their love for some of their favourite things including beer and crosswords! With brewery inspired tables and a giant crossword trivia game, they were able to show their guests a few of the things that they love to do together…

Bride & Groom: Devyn and Lauren Sigouin

Wedding Date: September 29, 2018

Ceremony & Reception Location: Revival House (revival.house) “We fell in love with this stunning venue the first time we visited for their Bridal & Wedding Open House. For us, the ability to hold the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception all in one spot was a huge draw as didn’t want our guests to have to worry about travelling between venues. We also knew from the first time we spoke with Alysha that she would help make our day flawless and stress free. We hadn’t really considered having a wedding coordinator, but we are so glad that this is one of the services Revival House offers! She made sure Devyn ate a cookie before the ceremony to keep his blood sugar up and helped me get into my reception shoes (because I couldn’t bend down in my wedding dress!). She went above and beyond our expectations in so many ways” – L

Colour Palette: “Light grey bridesmaid dresses, navy suits and jewel-toned florals. Revival House interior has a lot of rich colours, so we wanted our colour scheme to play into that.” – L

Theme: “We didn’t have a “theme” per se, but we tried to include personal touches reflecting some of our favourite things. We both love craft beer so instead of having a traditional seating chart using numbers, each table was identified by a different brewery. The head table was the “Flying Monkeys” table, which is Devyn’s favourite brewery. Each table was adorned with a custom beer painting by our brother-in-law as well as beer growlers from some of the breweries we’ve visited. I love crossword puzzles, so we created a giant crossword puzzle with clues about the bride and groom. Our guests had fun working on this during the cocktail hour and reception.” – L

Flowers: “Our florist was Grow & Bloom Co. (growandbloomco.com) from London. Since the bridesmaids were wearing a neutral colour, we really wanted the flowers to pop. Our florist used bold jewel tones that looked great against the grey bridesmaid dresses. Lauren’s youngest bridesmaid wore a flower crown instead of carrying a bouquet.” – D

Décor: “Since Revival House is so beautiful on its own, we kept it simple in terms of decor. Grow & Bloom supplied cut flowers for the beer growlers and fresh greenery for the tables. Revival House’s team set everything up beautifully while our guests were enjoying cocktail hour.” – L

Fav décor element: “We really love the beer paintings that we used in place of table numbers. Not only were they a unique part of our wedding decor, but now we have original artwork for our house!” – L&D

DIY: “Lauren and her family took on several DIY projects for the wedding. Some of our favourites include:  homemade jam for wedding favours (made by Lauren’s mother, Michele), giant crossword puzzle (joint effort by Lauren and her brother, Nick), beer table numbers (painted by our brother-in-law, Ryan), photo guest book (joint effort by Lauren and her brother, Nick), and our custom seating chart (Lauren’s brother, Nick)” – D

Invitations/stationery: “Designed and printed by my brother, Nick. We wanted the invitations to be simple and elegant. We included floral envelope liners to add a pop of colour.” L

Cake: “In lieu of a wedding cake, we had cream puffs from Culbert’s Bakery (culbertsbakery.com) in Goderich” – D

Wedding favours: “Homemade peach jam, strawberry jam and hot pepper jelly made by Lauren’s mother, Michele” – D

Groomsmen and Groom’s attire: “Custom suits from Moore’s Clothing for Men (mooresclothing.com). Light grey ties for the groomsmen from BHLDN (bhldn.com). The burgundy pocket squares for the groomsmen, light grey pocket square for me and my burgundy bow tie was all from The Tie Bar. (thetiebar.com)” – D

Bridesmaids attire and accessories: “Morilee dresses in “Silver” from Sophie’s Gown Shoppe (sophiesgownshoppe.com) in London, jewellery and shoes were chosen by each bridesmaid. Junior bridesmaid dress was in “Petal” from David’s Bridal (davidsbridal.ca) in London.” – L

Bride’s dress and accessories: ” My dress, veil and necklace were from Petrov Bridal (petrovbridal.com/) in London; earrings from Oliver + Piper (oliveandpiper.com) in Vancouver” – L

DJ: DJ Wiggs (djwiggs.com)

Hair & make-up: “Hair was by Kellye Sauder of Phaze Beauty Lounge (facebook.com/PhazeBeautyLounge) in Exeter and makeup was by Amy Brown of Essence of Harmony (facebook.com/EssenceOfHarmonySpaZurich)

Ceremony and Cocktail Hour Musicians: Michelle Kyle (michellekyle.com)

Wedding bands: J.B. Simpson Jewellers (jbsimpsonjewellers.com), London, ON

Photographer: Angelic Images Photography (angelicimages.ca) “We started the hunt for a photographer soon after we got engaged. We chose Lindsey from Angelic Images Photography based on her online portfolio and our engagement shoot with her. She does incredible work with natural light and can make any setting look amazing. We love all of the special candid photos that Lindsey captured of our day. It’s great to have photos of our friends and families enjoying themselves.” – L&D

Biggest challenge: “Overall, everything went very smoothly. There were a few unexpected bumps in the road, but our family and friends helped us keep everything on track. Lauren only cried once during the planning process – so we consider that a win!” – D

Fav wedding memory: “There are a few!” Lauren – “My favourite memory is when my brother officially welcomed Devyn into the “House of Haberer” during his speech. Devyn – “My favourite memory is sitting at the head table with my wife by my side and seeing all of our friends and family in front of us enjoying themselves.” – L&D

Advice from one couple to another: “If something isn’t important or meaningful to you and your soon-to-be-spouse, don’t stress over incorporating it into your day.” – L&D
