Wedding Date: August 17, 2019

Guest #: 220

Ceremony & Reception Location: Private Farm in North Perth

Colour Palette: “Gold and ballet pink with lots of greenery! I definitely wanted a summer fresh feeling! We had these gorgeous golden Chiavari chairs that set the tone in the barn. It blended well with our white linen tablecloths and pink/ green floral centrepieces. I also couldn’t help myself but to rent golden utensils for the reception!” – D

Tell us your story!: “Michael and I went to high school together and we shared the same group of friends. He apparently liked me for the longest time, and I just never noticed. Our friendship grew and he became more transparent with his feelings towards me. Our feelings for each other were mutual and we started dating several years after our friendship began. He was always so sweet and respected me. He was funny and smart. He was and is such a catch!

Fast forward a few years, we now live in the town that we went to high school in, we both love our careers, and there is no doubt in our minds that we made the right decision to marry each other.” – D

Invitations/stationery: “My maid of honour (Melissa Dunphy) actually designed our invitations and Michael’s uncle (Keith Kuepfer) printed them for us at his printery – St. Jacob’s Printery (stjacobsprintery.com/index2.html)” – D

Cake: “Our cake and cupcakes were made by the mother (Theresa Shaw) of one of our groomsmen! She’s an incredible baker!” – D & M

Decor/Floral: “A local mother-daughter combo that I have known for years! Esther Vines and Amy Whittaker. We also had greenery so generously donated for day use by the mother and step-father of our one best man! They own The Listowel Greenhouses (listowelgreenhouses.ca)” – D

Bride’s dress and accessories: “I bought my Pronovias wedding dress at Taylor’s Bridal Boutique (taylorsbridal.com)” – D

How did you find your photographer?: “Cool story actually! I was a junior bridesmaid in 2010 to my great friend. She had Michael Steingard as her photographer and I thought he was so talented! I told him that one day I would have him as my wedding photographer and 9 years later I sure enough did!” – D

Biggest Challenge: “We had an outdoor ceremony and I really did not have a game plan if it rained. It was raining on the morning of the wedding but luckily it all subsided before the ceremony started. I was so relieved!” – D

Best Memory: “My grandmother was struggling with cancer at the time and passed away four months after the wedding. We were so happy that she was able to make it to the wedding and enjoy it.” – D

Any advice for couples planning their wedding?: “The invite list was such a difficult task to complete. Start it early and make the best choices for you and your spouse. Michael and I had a capacity limit in our reception space. We had to leave out people we loved and that was so difficult. Looking back, we wished we had somehow made the space for them (even though it was basically impossible). The list was hard, but know that you will figure it out! Take your time.” – D & M
