Guy & Anne’s wedding theme was ‘Adventure’! They wanted to bring their love of the outdoors, adventure and travel, together with their love of rustic, classic and romantic wedding design. Anna admits that this seemed like an impossible task at first, “…but we managed to bring it together by including canoeing, rustic travel signs and old suitcases, a rustic back drop with grasses, and romantic shades of blush with sparkling lights.” So with dreams of adventure and dancing under the stars, Guy and Anna went about planning the wedding of their dreams at Conestoga Golf and Conference Centre.
Bride & Groom: Anna Kuepfer & Guy Dickerson
Wedding Date: August 5, 2017.
Ceremony Location: Victoria Park Pavillion (kitchenerevents.ca) “We choose Victoria Park because we wanted a place to be able to canoe away from the ceremony. We also enjoy the peace and beauty of the park and going on walks thorough it.”- G&A
Reception Location: Conestoga Golf and Conference Centre (golfconestoga.ca) “Conestoga Golf and Conference Centre was recommended to us by a co-worker who was familiar with the Golf Course and the Chef there. When we first saw the banquet room, we liked the modern, but cozy atmosphere immediately. But what we appreciated the most, is they were happy to work with us and allow us to make it our day.” – G&A
Flowers: Twila Erb at Simply Exquisite. “Twila is a close friend of mine. She does flowers for weddings on the side and only advertises by word of mouth. Twila did a phenomenal job of working with my complete ignorance of flowers and developing something beautiful. She designed all the bouquets and centrepieces using pink ranunculus and white hydrangeas with greenery.” – A
Décor: “We didn’t hire anyone to do decor, but thankfully I am blessed with creative sisters, Naomi and Juliane Kuepfer. They were amazing with taking my ideas and making them bigger and better. Much of the decor we used was homemade.” – A
Fav décor element: “The backdrop! We spent hours of stress constructing the backdrop that we designed ourselves, but it was worth it in the end.” – A
DIY: “We made our backdrop, signs, the seating chart, table numbers. We made the seating chart out of an antique map with the slogan “Where in the world are you sitting?” with countries we have been to instead of table numbers. On the tables we had the country name and a picture we had taken in that country.”
Special Touches: “Our guests loved the coffee bar by Guildsmen Cafe. Jessica Lee did a fantastic job of serving specialty coffee to our guests.” – G&A
“Something really important to us was to have the dance outside, under the stars. Conestoga was gracious enough to work with us and organize the outside area to accommodate our request. The outdoor seating area worked well for a dance floor, and we just added some lights and tulle to make it sparkle.”
Invitations/stationery: Designed themselves using VistaPrint (vistaprint.ca)
Cake: Designed by Rhonda Wagler, and old friend. Stucco icing with flowers and greenery. Topped with a canoe and “Adventure begins here” topper.
Wedding favours: Maple syrup by Sandhills Maple Products, John Wagler and Family
Groomsmen and Groom’s attire: Groomsmen wore cobalt blue shirts with print tie to match bridesmaids dresses, with grey pants and vest. Groom wore cobalt shirt with white tie and grey suit jacket.
Bridesmaids attire and accessories: The bride designed the bridesmaid’s dresses using a beautiful African design for the top piece (matches Groomsmen ties), and a cobalt high low skirt. Accessorized with simple metallic necklace and white pumps.
Bride’s dress and accessories: Dress, veil and crown from Taylor’s Bridal in Elmira (taylorsbridal.com). Necklace, earrings and bracelet from Le Chateau.
DJ: “A Friend, Shannon Loney.

Hair & make-up: Hair by Wenonah Dickerson. Make up by Julia Heffer.
Catering: “Conestoga Golf and Conference Centre (golfconestoga.ca) The food was absolutely delicious! Pulled pork and chicken with a selection of BBQ sauces, with a potato bar and salad options. The cheesecakes for dessert were also a hit.” – G&A
Photographer: “Gary Scott from Gary’s Lens Photography (photos.garyslens.ca) was absolutely amazing to work with. He came highly recommended to us by a friend, and we thought his pricing was reasonable. After he did our complimentary engagement shoot, we definitely were sold on his work. Not only does he take amazing and quality photos, but he is so calm and easy going that we felt like we were hanging out with a friend. The thing we enjoy most is the photo book he made for us- it is full of wonderful memories and he did such a great job with it.” – G&A
Biggest Challenge: “Getting what I had in mind to be recreated in real life. Its one thing to imagine it, its another to explain it to someone else and have it happen.” – A
Fav memory: “The best memory was definitely canoeing away from the ceremony. The ceremony was on an island, so we got to do two laps around it and enjoy some quiet time together.” – G&A
Advice from one bride to another: “Don’t stress about little details. Have a date night the week of the wedding in which you don’t talk about anything wedding related- you need to remember why you love each other!” – A
