A Catana Estate wedding was the perfect setting for Loujain and Brian to celebrate a love story where music has played a starring role from the very beginning. After meeting through a mutual climbing group in 2021, a shared love of music — sparked by a Yamaha marching band shirt and eventually growing into shared performances — became one of the threads that connected their lives. When they married in August 2025, that passion was woven into every detail, from live jazz renditions of video game favourites and music-inspired décor to a deeply meaningful flute and bass trombone duet performed by the couple themselves. With a soft pink and peach palette, a romantic estate setting and plenty of personal touches, their wedding was a joyful celebration of music, family, friendship and the journey that brought them together.
COUPLE: Loujain & Brian
DATE: August 3, 2025
CEREMONY & RECEPTION LOCATION: Catana Estate
GUEST #: 185
PHOTOGRAPHER: Peter B Photography "My maid of honour got married in September 2024, and I was one of her bridesmaids. She hired Peter B Photography, and Kyle Pebesma was her photographer. Kyle was phenomenal - he made everyone feel so comfortable, had an incredible eye for poses and natural lighting, and handled the entire day with so much cash and professionalism. The experience was so positive that I knew right then we had to book him for our own wedding."
COLOUR PALETTE: "We wanted a bright, fresh, and summery feel, so we chose a colour palette filled with soft pinks and peaches. Additionally, since we're both professional musicians (I'm a flutist, and Brian's a bass trombonist), music is a huge part of our story, so we built our whole wedding theme around it. Our ceremony featured a harp and cello duo, our mocktail hour and reception had live jazz quartet featuring jazzy renditions of our favourite video game themes, and we even performed a flat and bass trombone duet with my maid of honour accompanying us on piano.
Throughout the decor, we added little tidbits of music, such as a vinyl record welcome sign, record-themed table numbers, concert tickets for each guest, and music puns scattered across our signage. It felt like such an authentic reflection of who we are." - L
TELL US YOUR STORY!: "Our journey began in September 2021 at an indoor rock climbing gym, where we met through a mutual climbing group. The moment I noticed Brian's "YAMAHA: Marching Band & Percussion" shirt, I knew instantly that we shared a love for music - a small detail, but one that set the foundation for everything that followed.
Over the next few months, we built a strong friendship through climbing sessions, and our shared love of video game music, especially Final Fantasy soundtracks. Even thought we didn't want to disrupt the group dynamic, it became impossible to ignore how naturally we connected.
During out first year together, music became an even bigger part of our relationship. I encouraged Brian to reconnect with his musical side, and soon we were performing together in local concert bands and orchestras. We mad so many memories together - from choosing the perfect bass trombone at Long & McQuade, to rehearsing side by side in our shared musical groups. Music didn't just bring us together; it grounded us.
We also shared countless adventures together, such as learning how to lead climb, hiking new trails, joining new musical ensembles, and navigating life's biggest moments. Over time, it felt like we seamlessly became part of each other's worlds.
In October 2024, everything shifted in the most magical way. After months of chasing the northern lights, an exceptional solar storm was finally taking place. We drove out to a field in Erin, Ontario, and under a sky illuminated by the aurora, Brian proposed. The proposal was beyond perfect, and captured everything we love in one special moment: adventure, beauty, and finding meaning in life's rarest moments.
Looking back now after the wedding, it's incredible to see how far we've come together. Our wedding day felt like the perfect celebration of our journey, filled with music, love, family, friends, and everything that brought us together. We'll always cherish how beautifully it all came together."

BIGGEST CHALLENGE: "The biggest challenge was planning three different wedding events within a four month period so that we could honour both of our cultural traditions. Although planning was quite overwhelming, we honestly look back on those moments so fondly because they allowed us to fully celebrate both of our cultural backgrounds, and share such an important part of who we are with our friends and each other's families. We stayed organized with spreadsheets, binders, and a detailed schedule leading up to each event. We truly couldn't have done it without our incredible wedding party. They made themselves available for every bit of decor, logistics, and support. We're so luck to have had such an amazing team around us."
BEST MEMORY: "Our favourite memory from the wedding was performing flute and bass trombone duet together, with my maid of honour accompanying us on piano. It was so meaningful for so many reasons. Sharing our love for music with all of our guests was incredibly special, but what made it even more emotional was that my maid of honour was my very first exposure to music when we were children. I grew up listening to her practice piano and attending her recitals, so having her share the stage with us felt like a beautiful full-circle moment, and it truly meant the world to me.
The whole scene felt like something out of a fairy tale. It was golden hour, the sun was setting behind us, and birds were flying and chirping around us as we played - it was such a surreal and magical experience.
After the wedding, the owner of the estate, Lydia Catana, came up to us and expressed how emotional she felt watching us perform together. She told us it was one or her favourite moments she had ever witnessed at a wedding, and that she had never seen a couple perform at their own celebration. Knowing that it touched not just us, but everyone around us, made it one of the most unforgettable moments."
ADVICE FROM ONE COUPLE TO ANOTHER: "Our biggest piece of advice is to stay organized because it truly helps you enjoy the process instead of feeling overwhelmed. Spreadsheets were a lifesaver for us, and keeping everything in one place made the planning so much more manageable. Don't be afraid to lean on your wedding party - delegating tasks not only eases the stress, but it also reminds you how loved and supported you are throughout the journey.
We also suggest creating a detailed photo list. It helps your photographer understand what moments matter most to you, and it makes the day flow so smoothly for your family and guests.
But above all, be present. Take little pauses throughout the day to look around, and really take in what's happening. The day moves so quickly, but those intentional moments, the tiny snapshots of joy, nerves, and love, those are the ones that stay with you forever. Let yourself feel everything, and soak in every second."
