All you need is love... and

Abi and Elliot met on Utila and wanted to celebrate their love there in a laid back, island wedding. They wanted their friends and family to enjoy the island they fell in love on and decided to have their wedding at the iconic Huffy Utila. The venue matched their bohemian style perfectly and their decor brought in a twist of island flavour. Family and friends travelled from as far as London to celebrate their love with them.

COUPLE: Elliot & Abigail

DATE: April 23, 2024

GUEST #: 40

CEREMONY & RECEPTION LOCATION: Huffy Beach Club Utila “The owner is my best friend. When I first moved to Utila, Honduras, them and many others made me feel so welcomed and looked after me during my time here. When we I was planning on getting married it was a must to get married there. The place was completely our style. Tulum/Bali vibes, palm trees, beach and the best sunset spot!

The owner and the workers did everything for us, they helped us have a private bar with exactly what we wanted. They closed the whole venue so it was 100% private and they were ready to help and fix anything at a moments notice! Seriously I would say Utila Honduras is the best location to have an island wedding.” – Abi

PHOTOGRAPHER: TKM Photography “Photography was one of the most important parts of our big day, but we honestly had no idea where to start. Thankfully, a friend recommended TKM Photography, a team known for their incredible work on the islands. They set up a Zoom call with us, and within minutes, we were sold. Their portfolio was stunning, but what truly stood out was their approach. They reassured us with the best advice: “Don’t worry about us. We’ll capture everything and show just how amazing your wedding is.”

When we finally met Kat and Taylor in person, we gave them a bit of a warning—we’re the definition of awkward in front of a camera. But they made us feel so comfortable right away. They came up with natural, creative ideas, and before we knew it, they had us relaxed, laughing, and, most importantly, being ourselves. They had this incredible ability to bring out our love on camera in a way that didn’t feel staged or forced, which is no small feat.

When we received the final photos, we were absolutely blown away. We’d been hoping they caught certain special moments, and not only did they capture them—they exceeded every expectation. Abi actually cried as soon as she saw them. Those photos you see and think, “Wow, I wish that could be us”? Well, it was us. They documented all the little details: our family, the laughter, the quiet moments, and even our two dogs, who looked absolutely adorable.

What we loved most about their work was how real it felt. The photos didn’t look like we were trying to be a picture-perfect couple—they genuinely reflected how we felt about each other that day. Kat and Taylor didn’t just take photos; they told our story. We couldn’t be more grateful to them, and we’ll cherish those memories forever. They were the perfect choice to capture our island wedding” – Abi & Elliot

COLOUR PALETTE: “Our three main colours were: Teal, Green and Brown. Teal was in the flowers, and the bridesmaid dresses. The green and brown were from the palms and coconuts that we used all around the wedding. We really wanted to bring the island wedding feel to life.” – Abi

TELL US YOUR STORY!: “How did I meet Abi? Well, I’m originally from England, and about eight years ago, I moved to a little island in Honduras called Utila. My Spanish was basically non-existent back then, but the island immediately felt like home. I started working at a restaurant called Neptune’s, and during the busy seasons, they’d bring in extra help. That’s when I met Abi.

Abi was incredible. I couldn’t speak Spanish, and she told me she couldn’t either—though I later found out that wasn’t true. She’d come to the island for a month or so every year, and every time I heard Abi was going to be working, I’d get excited. She just had this energy that made everything better. Then, for a few years, she stopped coming, and I didn’t see her.

During the pandemic, though, everything changed. Abi decided to move to Utila full-time and ended up working at Neptune’s again. From there, we basically became inseparable. We worked together at three different restaurants, pulling crazy 16-hour shifts. My Spanish got a lot better, and I eventually found out that Abi spoke perfect English all along—she learned it as a kid from watching High School Musical.

Over time, we went from being workmates to best friends. We talked about everything—our dreams, our struggles, and all the stuff we didn’t tell anyone else. Abi became my safe place, and I became hers. After two more years of being best friends, I finally worked up the courage to ask her out on a date.

If you’ve ever dated your best friend, you’ll know how amazing it is. I knew right away that she was the one. Our dogs even became best friends, just like we did. It felt like it was all meant to be. And honestly, I wouldn’t change a thing.” – Elliot

BIGGEST CHALLENGE: “Planning a wedding on a small island like Utila came with its challenges, especially when it came to decorations and having family travel from so far away. But in the end, it all came together perfectly. My family made the journey all the way from England, and their suitcases were packed with my suit, Abi’s dress, and all the little decorations we had planned.

What made it even easier was Huffy Utila. The venue was already so stunning on its own that we realized we didn’t need to add much at all. The natural beauty and vibe of the place created the perfect atmosphere for our day. It was simple, elegant, and everything we could’ve hoped for our island wedding.” – Abi & Elliot

BEST MEMORY: “Our wedding was intimate and cozy, with only our closest friends and family there to celebrate with us. That made it all the more memorable—everyone together, filling the dance floor, laughing, smiling, and sharing in our joy. Seeing all the people we love in one place, so genuinely happy for me and Abi, made us feel incredibly special and deeply loved. It was a moment we’ll never forget.” – Elliot

ADVICE FROM ONE COUPLE TO ANOTHER: “Keep your wedding small and true to yourselves. Focus on what will make you happy, not what you think will impress your guests. If you spend the day trying to please everyone else, you’ll miss out on enjoying it. A wedding is about celebrating your love, and that’s all that matters.” – Abi & Elliot
