Surrounded by 95 of their closest family and friends, Tanya and Lisa brought their rainbow wedding love story to life in a celebration as bright and beautiful as their bond.

COUPLE: Tanya & Lisa

DATE: August 31, 2024

CEREMONY LOCATION: The Rose Chapel

RECEPTION LOCATION: Best Western Stoneridge Inn “We had both known of the venue through friends. We reached out to Natalie Zima and booked a tour. We knew as soon as we walked into the Chapel that this was where we were going to get married. The Chapel was so beautiful, so bright with the natural sunlight. It was cozy and quaint and we fell in love with it. Working with Natalie was wonderful. She met all of our needs and went above and beyond to bring our vision to light! The dinner was absolutely fantastic! We had guests say they’ve never had such quality food at a wedding before. The service was impeccable! Couldn’t have asked for better.” – T&L

GUEST #: 95

PHOTOGRAPHER: Shelton Photography “Angela Shelton is such a wonderful woman. She is a FT nurse in the ICU, wife, mother of 5 and a talented photographer. She was so helpful while we were getting ready, definitely going above from her hired duties. Her presence was appreciated so much. She was the perfect choice for our rainbow wedding.” – T&L

COLOUR PALETTE: “I’m going to start with this quote, “rainbows don’t mean that I’m gay…but I am”
Our colour palette was a rainbow wedding! We had 6 tables on each side of the ballroom. Each table from the head table down went as follows: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple. Each table had a runner the assigned colour for that table. So white linen with red (or every other colour) table runner, white napkins with white chair covers and bowties of its colour. The tables closest to the head table were red and the colours cascaded away from us down the ballroom. We wanted a rainbow wedding but we also didn’t want it to be too much or gawdy.

For wedding favours we bought 40mL clear plastic test tubes and we bought a heck of a lot of the candy, Skittles. We had to buy several flavours in order to get all of the colours we needed. The red package of Skittles has all the colours needed except for blue! We ordered rainbow labels with our names and our wedding date on them. Our head table backdrop was 3 satin panels with clear crystals as buttons. There were 6 panels of curtains behind the head table.

We had one panel of each of the colours of the rainbow, red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. We also asked for uplighting behind the head table from our DJ. The actual fabric used wasn’t necessarily the exact shades that we would have preferred, but with the uplighting it looked AMAZING!!! We were so thrilled with the way our rainbow wedding vision came together!” – T&L

TELL US YOUR STORY: Lisa and I met online. I was the one who reached out to Lisa first. Lisa responded within 45 minutes and we then messaged back and forth for the next 5 hours. Soon after we met in person at a restaurant. Lisa was there first and was waiting on the patio. Lisa is such an amazing woman, so kind and considerate, from before we even ‘met’. Our first date was lovely. We sat on the patio, had a drink and ordered salads. We couldn’t believe how quickly 3 hours went by!

The following week we went on a hike and had a picnic on our second date. Date #2 led to date #3 in which I met Lisa’s parents! As we left their house that afternoon Lisa turned to her Mom and said, “that’s your future daughter-in-law!” Well, she wasn’t wrong! Lisa and my life seemed to click together like the last 2 pieces of a puzzle! We were sharing a slow dance on my back deck, 2 weeks in. We both had silent tears streaming down our faces as we were both overcome with a sense of comfort and belonging. Our souls were already connected long before we met, that was very evident.

For the next 6 months Lisa and I spent as much time together as we could. In January 2024 Lisa and her 4 cats moved into the house. We truly were so grateful that the transition was pretty much flawless. November 2023 while at our family Fall photoshoot, Lisa proposed to me! She had asked my Mom as well as my 2 kids, for their blessing. All 3 excitedly gave their blessings. I said yes when asked to be Lisa’s wife! Fast forward to August 31st, 2024, the day Lisa and I became wife and wife! The best day ever!” – T

BIGGEST CHALLENGE: “Our biggest challenge was the night before the wedding. One of the wedding coordinators was quite insistent that Lisa and I take a look at the Ballroom after our wedding rehearsal. When we walked in the room the colours weren’t quite what we had wanted and the layout of the tables weren’t the way it had been planned. The wedding planner assured me that everything would be fixed up and will be perfect for our wedding day. He wasn’t wrong! With the uplighting, the fabrics all popped in their intended shades and the staff had the tables moved according to the drawing. It was PERFECT!!!!!” – T

FAVOURITE MEMORY: “A prime example of how connected Lisa and I are, we seem to share a brain. I asked her what her best memory was from our wedding day. Her answer, “my favourite memory from our wedding day was when you sang to me on the dance floor”. That was MY best memory as well. I practiced that song everyday in an effort to learn the words and be able to hit the notes. I wanted Lisa to know that she is my everything and despite being a tad shy I wanted to sing our song to her in front of everyone.” – T

ADVICE FROM ONE COUPLE TO ANOTHER: “Our advice would be to not get caught up in little things. Enjoy every moment and just go with the flow. Laugh about the little things even if they feel like they’re big in the moment. And make a list of what pics you want taken and stick to it!” – T&L
