With the ability to host a small intimate wedding of 30 people or a large celebration of 700 guests, St. George Hall offers a great venue option for your special day.
Located in Waterloo, Brani Abadzic and his team are committed to helping couples make their wedding vision a reality. In fact, flexibility and offering incredible services are their main priorities. With over 10 years of experience in the customer service and sales industry, he wanted to make a difference for local brides.
Staff at The Ring sat down with Brani Abadzic at St. George Banquet Hall to learn more about how the courteous and professional staff strive to make each and every wedding spectacular.
What St. George offers…
Since first opening for business in 2006, St George’s Hall has hosted hundreds of weddings. As one of the largest venues in the Kitchener/Waterloo area, the venue offers a flexible space that can accommodate an event with 30 guests up to 700. Brani admits that St. George Hall offers the trifecta in wedding services – excellent food, exceptional service and a beautiful venue.
The Grand Hall is conveniently customizable with two dividing walls to create the balance of the three separate halls, each with its own dance floor. Drop down chandeliers and mirrors accent the colours and decor of each hall.
“There are two bridal suites for the bride and her party to either use to get ready or to just relax in during any downtime,” explains Brani. Each suite has a washroom, seating area and storage space for your personal belongings, which can be safely locked away.
Prices and packages….
The venue offers the total package that can be adjusted and will fit the needs of almost every bride and groom.
“We don’t like to say no. If there is any way we can make it work for you, we will,” admits Brani. Prices vary considerably depending on what the couple would like for their day, but typically for a buffet wedding, it would average $35 per person with a cash bar. For a plated service, the average price would be $60 per person with a cash bar. For a plated dinner service with host bar, it would average $95 per person.
“Our wedding packages include: Tables, chairs, glassware, cutlery, dishes, linens in your selected colour, and cake cutting services. A corkage fee of $10.00 per bottle applies if you bring your own wine for dinner, but remember you need to have a special occasion permit to do so.”
St. George also has a picturesque gazebo and ample room to accommodate an outdoor ceremony. There is also more then enough space for tented outdoor reception if that’s in your wedding dreams. For indoor ceremonies, the Grand Hall offers a touch of extravagance and luxury.
The planning process…
The initial meeting with brides and grooms is with Brani. Once the day is booked, a member of the Operations team will be assigned to the event who will work closely with the couple throughout the rest of the planning process, managing the series and coordination of the day.
“Brani, the Sales Director, was very personable and honest. He explained their offerings and process very well and we felt comfortable dealing with him immediately. We signed our contract the day we saw the venue, after looking at several venues for a couple of weeks. Throughout our engagement, St. George Banquet Hall was very responsive, provided suggestions, and accommodated all our requests,” says Angellie.
The food services…
When it comes to menu option, there are so many choices it can seem overwhelming, but according to Brani, the team can help narrow down the choice to create a wedding that is as unique as your relationship.
“We offer too many choices to list and approach every event with an open mind,” says Brani.
Helping to create your dream menu are St. George’s two European Master Chefs, who can customize a menu to any ethnic background. From a la carte receptions, deluxe cocktail receptions, plated or country style dinners or buffets, the choice is yours. St. George will work with you to build a menu that you and your guests will savour. “Even if it’s not on our menu, our chefs can make if for you. If you would like a specific ethnic food and we can’t make it. We also offer the option of allowing brides and grooms to bring in food from their favourite licensed caterer” says Brani.

Bar options include cash bar, host bar, as well as bringing your own wine, if they do not have your favourite drink on their bar list, they will work with you to bring it in. During wine service if you’re bringing in your own wine, the St. George bar closes.
When asked what their favourite memory of St. George Banquet Hall, without hesitation Angellie & Gerard agreed was the food. “We loved the food at our wedding and especially loved the tasting prior to the wedding. At other venues, you may be grouped with other couples trying out the food in buffet style. At St. George Banquet Hall, the food tasting is a private, sit down dinner at their restaurant on site. My husband and I brought our parents. It was a fine dining experience and you are treated like royalty. Their food is delicious!”
