Adele and Donny’s wedding at THEMUSEUM in downtown Kitchener was a perfect blend of creativity, warmth, and personal touches. Surrounded by 130 loved ones, the couple brought their story full circle in a venue they’d admired for years—transforming it into a modern celebration filled with heartfelt details and DIY charm. With a romantic dark green and desert rose palette, locally sourced blooms, and a kids’ room that kept the little ones entertained, their day was a beautiful reflection of who they are: thoughtful, down-to-earth, and full of love. Captured by family friend Pep Studios, their August wedding was proof that when community and creativity come together, the result is pure magic

TELL US YOUR STORY: "Donny and I met while working together in archaeology many moons ago. We were working 12 hour days in 40 degree heat, which is a great way to get to know someone. Under the circumstances in which we met, we knew we made a great team and had similar interests, which was a solid foundation for our relationship.
Five years and a lot of life later, on a trip to Greece, we hiked up to an archaeology site. It was an abandoned monastery built in a cave on the side of a cliff, with a beautiful view of the Mediterranean through the walls of the cliffside ruins. On the verge of heat stress, Donny bent down on a knee and offered me a blade of grass, tied around my finger as a makeshift ring. We laughed about it and I agreed, and our engagement was a surprise to no one.
From there we took our time and took two years to plan our wedding, which was a pretty stressful experience but definitely worth it. It was a beautiful day and I'm so grateful that everything came together the way that it did. Our vendors were fantastic, and THEMUSEUM was the perfect place for our event. We had over fifteen young children in attendance at our wedding, and THEMUSEUM accommodated that without a problem, even letting us use the sensory room that is adjacent to the reception area as a kids room. This ended up being a huge hit! We can't recommend Platters Catering and THEMUSEUM enough. They accommodated every little detail and were very kind and professional every step of the way. Planning a wedding can be a stressful project, and working with vendors you have confidence in makes a world of difference." - A
INVITATIONS: With Joy
FLORALS: "There are multiple flower farms about an hour south of KW, I bought my flowers by the bucket from a farm called Busy Bee Flower Farm in Burford. My experienced friend Amanda Peace arranged all the bouquets. This was a nice way to do it because we knew the flowers would be fresh. We supported a local farm and it was a lot cheaper ($50 for a bucket of 50 blooms, and they were such nice blooms!)." - A
BRIDE'S ATTIRE: My wedding dress was custom designed and made by an Etsy shop called Lebride Atelier
GROOM & GROOMSMEN ATTIRE: H&M
BRIDESMAIDS ATTIRE: Azazie "They are great because I had a bridesmaid coming from the UK and they ship internationally." - A
DJ: DJ Bear, Something Blue Weddings
CATERING: Platters Catering
OFFICIANT: "Our officiant was Susan Patterson from the Unitarian Church. The Unitarian Church provides secular ceremonies, also fully customizable and she was a joy to work with." - A
BIGGEST CHALLENGE: "The biggest challenge of our wedding was that all the roads surrounding our venue were closed for a parade that no one had been given notice of. That was quite a surprise! We rolled with it and my mother convinced the police to move a barricade so the catering truck could deliver the food and miraculously everything turned out just fine." - A&D
BEST MEMORY: "Looking down at the guests seated for the ceremony and seeing that everything had come together and everyone was actually there! We have a lot of family and friends who came from very far and in extraordinary circumstances (how many people do you know who would go to a wedding after their water had broken that morning?) so it was very special to have everyone together for a day." - A
ADVICE FROM ONE COUPLE TO ANOTHER: "If people offer you help, accept it! We were very fortunate to have many family and friends offer to help out in ways big and small. All of these special details that we had help with are so much more memorable and meaningful because of that help. For example, my sister-in-law coordinated our late night snack of homemade bubble tea (which was absolute perfection) and my maid of honour made our incredible wedding cake. These are the details that make my heart swell just thinking of them!" -A
