What do you get when you mix traditional with romantic? You get flowers, candles, pastel colours and so much more! Vanessa and Raffaele wanted something classic and formal. Whistle Bear Golf Club was the perfect place for everything they wanted. Anne Edgar Photography was there to capture all the special moments…
Bride and Groom: Vanessa Vucea and Raffaele Tirabassi
Wedding Date: August 25, 2018
Ceremony & Reception Location(s): “The ceremony was at St. Clement’s Parish (Cambridge). We loved the beautiful architecture of the building such as the stained glass windows! Our reception was held at Whistle Bear Golf Club (pearleweddings.ca/locations/whistle-bear). We fell in love with the elegant atmosphere, countryside feel and natural landscape, the hand-carved wooden beams, and beautiful crystal chandeliers.” – V&R
Theme: “The overall theme was a combination of traditional/formal and romantic. The traditional/formal aspect was comprised of decorative flower arrangements, complete table settings, and an exquisite head table. Meanwhile, the romantic component was brought out in the candles placed between the flowers on the tables, the use of pastel colours such a white, blue, and pink, and the calligraphy used for the table numbers.
Flowers: Jodi Leigh Designs (jodileighdesigns.com) “My bouquet had a mix of playa blanca, Tibet, quicksand, white majolica, white wax with pink center, mint succulents, dusty miller. My bridesmaids’ bouquet had white hydrangea, Tibet, white spray, salal collar.” – V
Décor: Jodi Leigh Designs (jodileighdesigns.com) “Jodi Leigh was able to give us so much décor from razzle dazzle tablecloths, light blue napkins, gold script table numbers to stemmed candles, and vases (white, bud, cylinder).” – V
Fav décor element: “The bouquets, the vase arrangements, and the pop of blue with the use of cloth napkins (matched the bridesmaid dresses).” – V
DIY: “We created our Invitations, table seating cards, and wedding favours. We designed the guestbook table and gift table, and then Raffaele put it all together. We wanted to do something unique for the guestbook so we asked the guests to sign wine bottles representing different anniversaries, so that at each designated anniversary we can reminisce about our wedding day.” – V
Wedding favours: “Mini bottles of sparkling wine” – V
Photographer: “Anne Edgar Photography (anneedgarphoto.com) came highly recommended to us by Whistle Bear Golf Club. The reason we chose Anne and Joel was because of the breathtaking photos and exquisite photography skills showcased in their albums. Anne and Joel were creative, professional, personable, and very knowledgeable in the industry.” – V&R
Biggest challenge: “The biggest challenge was the table seating arrangements. With the help of family and working together as a team, we were able to make those tough decisions about the table assignments. We must have changed the seating chart more times than we can count, however we had to stop and take a step back because you cannot please everyone – you just have to try your best – and remember that it is your big day!” – V&R
Fav wedding memory: “We had so many special memories from our wedding, however the best memory was seeing one another at the church for the first time that day. We had anticipated this moment all morning, and throughout the entire planning process. We could not stop smiling at each other, it really was the best part of the whole day. We also loved seeing it all come together, the decorations, the flowers, the attire, the speeches, the food, and of course all the love and happiness that came from family and friends.” – V&R
Advice from one couple to another: “Plan everything together, stay organized and most importantly enjoy every moment of the planning!” – V&R
