From backdrops, ceiling drapery and centrepieces to smaller design details such as envelope containers, linens and chair covers that fit into a long list of colour schemes, styles and themes, Wendy makes it her mission to turn your wedding dreams into a reality.

Wendy knows that creating a day that measures up to the vision you’ve had in your mind since you said ‘I will!’ isn’t always easy. That’s why her company doesn’t just rent décor to their clients. They supply the design expertise and staff required to pull a full dream vision together, helping with every detail along the way – from choosing the right pieces to complete set-up and tear-down. This leaves the brides and grooms to relax and enjoy their day.

We sat down with this professional Mitchell Ontario decorator (who serves Southwestern Ontario including London, KW, South Huron, Kincardine and all areas in between) to find out how and why (aside from incredible prices, popularity and experience) she’s won the hearts of so many couples…

Personally speaking…

Wendy started out in the decorating business working alongside a family member and her special occasion’s company. In February of 2007, she took a leap, venturing into the world of weddings on her own, launching Devine Wedding Design in Mitchell, Ontario. Since the world of design is constantly changing, Wendy says that she’s always learning something new – whether it’s on her own or through continued education.

To keep up with the busy and continually growing wedding seasons, Wendy has grown the team since first opening. “Joining us are design professionals who have many years in the service industry. They all have exquisite style and designs that will keep us unique and up to date to the decorating industry,” says Wendy. She runs Devine Wedding Design out of a 1,200 sq.ft. showroom of full of design inspiration! The space is a feast for the eyes with more gorgeous wedding displays, vignettes if you will, then we could truly take in. “We change the wedding vignettes seasonally to both keep it fresh and to continually inspire us. We also have one table set aside that we setup in the couple’s colour/style/theme so we can better help them choose the right look for their day.”

Amanda Skyes was delighted with Devine Wedding Design, who says her experiences meeting and working with Wendy was a positive one. “Wedding planning can be very overwhelming sometimes, especially for those who have a hard time making decisions, like myself,” says Amanda. “Wendy was always available and open to discuss any reservations or questions I may have had regarding decor. She was open to change and new additions I made along the way. Wendy has a great eye for transforming a space, and has endless creative possibilities to ensure a happy couple. She took my vague visions for my day and brought them to life effortlessly – the hall was more than I could have ever imagined!”

During her initial meeting with Wendy, Kathrine was impressed with how charismatic Wendy was. “She didn’t push me into décor that I didn’t want and was flexible to make my dream wedding work. She was the perfect match for me to work with and could easily articulate my vision.”

A Devine Wedding Design Package for everyone 

Wendy knows that every engaged couple has a different vision for their wedding that comes along with a unique budget and level of DIY skill and interest. “Some couples want to do everything. Some couples want to do nothing but enjoy their day. Others need to rent one or two things. Others need to rent everything. We have a package for everyone or we’ll make one just for them.”

Full service décor packages are perfect for the brides and grooms that want to leave all the details up to the professionals. It includes 3 hours of design consultations, delivery and setup of all rentals and décor as well as tear down. Prices for full service décor really depend on what you’re looking for. Just full service décor averages between $1500 and $5000.

Devine Wedding Design also offers DIY décor packages starting $650. These themed packages are ideal for the couple with an idea of what they’re looking for and the interest (and help) setting up. DIY décor packages include key items for creating your look including a head table backdrop, seating charts, card box and much more. DIY packages can either be delivered or picked up (in an appropriate vehicle) the Wednesday or Thursday before your big day. DWD can pick up your DIY package after it’s been taken down and is ready for pickup at a designated time. Typically the Sunday or Monday after your wedding.

One of our favourite things about Devine Wedding Design is their extensive line of rental items that can be rented on their own or added to either the full service or DIY décor packages. “We offer everything from tables (harvest and regular), a selection of 7 different styles of chairs, linens including table clothes, napkins, runner, etc. as well as dinnerware, flatware and glassware. And of course, we also have an enormous selection of table accents such as chargers, centrepieces and more.” Wendy tells us there really is no average for rentals since some couples only rent a few items while other need everything.   

“We also offer full room draping to change the look of the entire space. This gives a full room transformation perfect for the couples with a vision that doesn’t match venues current decor,” says Wendy.

According to Amanda, the entire hall was stunning, including the smallest details. “With our wedding being in a local hall with many of our guests having attended previous receptions over the years, it was important that we did something different,” she explains. “Devine Wedding certainly delivered. We had so many compliments on our décor for our big day!”

“I would honestly recommend her to everyone because of how fantastic she was,” says Katherine, when asked what it was like to work with Wendy. “I knew if I had any questions or concerns, she was a text or email away and she was also quick to get back to me.”

Budget friendly services….

According to Amanda, Devine was very accommodating when working within her budget.
“In comparison to other vendors, Devine Wedding Design was the most bang for my buck,” Amanda says. “The packages offered ensure the basics are covered for a reasonable price. They are a company looking to provide you with the vision you’ve dreamed of for your big day, and go above and beyond to deliver!”

Natalie was also happy with Wendy’s prices and for everything that Devine Wedding Design did was very reasonably priced. “Wendy worked entirely within my budget,” says Katherine. “Wendy made it clear early on that it is part of Devine Wedding Design’s philosophy to be able to help any couple with any budget to have the wedding of their dreams. She was reasonably priced and much less than other vendors that I had consultations with. She was worth every penny!”

Details, details, details

• The average bride spends between $1500 and $5000 for full service décor, or $650 to $800 for DIY. For rentals you can rent as little as one centrepiece or everything that you need.
• It’s recommended to book Devine Wedding Design for your wedding décor 6 to 12 months (or more) ahead of your wedding date to ensure the best product selection. Of course, last minute requests are accepted and Wendy will do her best to accommodate you!
• A non-refundable deposit is due at booking to save your date. Devine Wedding Design now accepts credit card payments, cash, check and email money transfers.
• The remainder of your package or item amount is due 3 weeks before the wedding day.
