Tell us your story!: “Tony and I met on June 5th, 2017 at Slate Church in Waterloo. It wasn’t the church I usually attended but was visiting with a friend. After the service, I saw a guy I thought I recognized so I went up and said ‘Hey do I know you?’. He seemed a bit taken back but said ‘I study Engineering at the University of Waterloo maybe I’ve seen you around campus?’ I also was studying at Waterloo at the time but we quickly realized I didn’t actually know him but started a friendly conversation. I didn’t think much of it so I was very surprised when he messaged me the next day and asked me to go to coffee, that night!! Long story short I said yes and within a month we were dating.

They say when you meet *the one* you just know, and Tony and I just knew. We spent that first year falling in love, getting to know each other and our families. Family is very important to both of us and a requirement for him to propose (put on by me) was that my family who lives in California was here. I also wanted to be surprised but not too surprised, so I could make sure I looked my best when he asked. Really easy right? Well Tony went above and beyond and planned the most amazing proposal (not that I am biased). On July 1, 2018, after a year of dating, he asked me to marry him. I said Yes! <3

If you want to see it for your self you can watch it here, he had our friends and talented videographers capture the whole thing” – Clare

How did you find your photographer?: “We researched a ton of photographers, went to wedding shows, meet with some in-person, etc. In the end we went with Julie from JD Photography, because of the quality of her images. Photos were one of the most important parts for us so we wanted to ensure that we were spending our money on someone who was going to give us quality photos that we will cherish forever. It turned out Julie is also an awesome human and so fun to work with! She is a pretty amazing woman who met with us 2 days before she gave birth to her daughter and took our engagement photos the next month so I could have my dream pictures with Fall leaves.” – C

Videographer: Bonsai Creative (bonsaicreative.ca) “We hired this amazing husband/wife duo (who happen to be great friends of ours). I cry every time I watch our video.” – C

Biggest Challenge: “My sister got engaged a few months before us and planned to get married around the same time, so figuring out how to coordinate two weddings in one year, 1 in California where my sister and her husband live, and 1 in Waterloo was a definite challenge! Looking back I wouldn’t want it any other way.” – C

Best Memory: “The best memory was really the whole day itself. It felt like everything went perfect (maybe things went wrong but that was what our wedding planner was for, to make sure we didn’t notice). If I had to just pick one though I would say when our cake almost toppled over. It must have been warm in the room and it kind of started to melt. Our wedding planner noticed and reached her hand out just in time to stop it from hitting the floor. We had to quickly change our plans and cut the cake right then. It resulted in some fun photos and got the whole room laughing.” – C

Any advice for couples planning their wedding?: “Hiring a videographer is our number one piece of advice to couples planning a wedding, especially in this current COVID climate where you don’t know when/how you can have all your loved ones together again. If possible, hire a videographer & photographer that have worked together before, it will help the day flow smoothly.” – C & T
