All you need is love... and

Michaela and Dayne didn’t have an exact wedding theme in mind but they knew they wanted their favourite colours. So their red and blue wedding came to life at the beautiful Maple Lane Haven.

COUPLE: Michaela & Dayne

DATE: July 14, 2023

GUEST #: 65

CEREMONY & RECEPTION LOCATION: Maple Lane Haven “We saw their booth at The Ring’s Guelph Wedding Expo. We fell in love with the pictures of the venue. When we met with the owner, Miriam, and found out it was a family run business and they were very open to our wants and needs we knew we had to choose this beautiful, one-of-a-kind venue! After seeing it, we knew our colours would look great to create a red and blue wedding theme.” – M&D

TELL US YOUR STORY!:

“Dayne and I met in 2018 online. We spent months just texting back and forth before finally meeting up. When we did, it was an instant connection. We had our first date at a brewery where we spent the entire time talking about life, joking, and discussing family. The family aspect was very important to us because we are both so close with our family. After our first date we continued to see each other regularly. I eventually introduced him to my parents and they all got along quite well.

We moved in together after only three months, which we knew was fast but we both knew what we were looking for and it ended up working out. Dayne proposed to me at a family bbq we were hosting in August of 2020. Unfortunately, his family was not able to come in person because they were back home in Trinidad but they were there via FaceTime which made it extra special! We share a wonderful life with our dog, Jonny and cat Panther and are very excited to see what the years have in store for us!” – M

PHOTOGRAPHER:

Samara The Photographer “Samara did my sisters wedding a few years back and she was lovely to work with. The photos all came out amazing. After talking with a few other photographers just to see, Samara stood out and she made our sessions so fun and comfortable! We knew she was the perfect choice for our red and blue wedding.” – M

COLOUR PALETTE:

“We did not have a theme per say, our colours were red, blue & black. Red is my favourite colour so there was no question and Dayne requested blue as the second colour.” – M

FLORALS: Seasons Floral Shop

BRIDE’S ATTIRE: Elisabeth and Beau

DJ: DJ Kaos

HAIR: Nikki Sgro

MAKE-UP: Erin Bolger

BIGGEST CHALLENGE:

“Our biggest challenge was probably having family all over the world who would have to travel in for the wedding and doing what we could to ensure they could make it. Since the venue was a distance from our house, we made sure to have rental car options and hotel options for all guests to make it as easy and affordable as possible to join us on our special day!” – M&D

FAVOURITE MEMORY:

“The whole day was absolutely perfect! No hiccups, food was amazing and we had so many compliments on the venue! However, dancing at the end of the night was exceptionally fun and it was so great to have our families come together and be able to enjoy the day and dance with our Grandmothers and create those memories.” – M&D

ADVICE FROM ONE COUPLE TO ANOTHER:

“Breathe. It is a lot but talk to your partner and get them involved. Having Dayne involved and participating in the planning made things a lot easier and I appreciated that he had an opinion on more than one thing because it showed he truly cared about how the day would unfold. A small wedding is also wonderful because you get to enjoy your time with your guests and you know everyone in the room.” – M
