Latte Productions Photography, owned by recently married couple Justin and Jennifer Reid, is a company based out of Waterloo but serving the surrounding area, that's likely to get a lot of attention this summer. Since opening their doors to wedding bookings almost a year ago, they've taken more than forty bookings for this year, and are hearing from more and more brides and grooms as each week passes.
So, you're probably wondering, how did this brand new part time business earn themselves the trust of so many brides so quickly? We believe it's because Justin and Jennifer are building a wedding photography business around several principles that brides could easily love – no-limit photography with unlimited coverage and multiple experienced shooters – all at a price that's designed for brides on a budget. Offering everything but the kitchen sink in their packages (and all for around $1000) we were curious to find out more about Latte and the super sweet couple behind its name. Check it out...
Justin and Jennifer told staff at The Ring, "Latte Productions Photography became an official new direction of the company in September 2009 when we began to market ourselves as primarily wedding photographers."
They considered that they had years of experience with image editing through their media company already, so when Justin and Jennifer considered combining their computer media background with their passion for photography, they knew what they wanted to do. "It's the perfect mix for us."
Latte Productions Photography was (officially) launched to brides in September 2009 as a part time business, and they treat that fact as, not only a selling point, but also a crucial factor in being able to keep their prices so low. "We have the luxury of working 9-5 jobs that don’t interfere with our passion for photography or our couple's needs."
Latte Productions covers full wedding days (from sunrise to the last dance and then some), two shooters and custom designed keepsakes - all for around $1000. Justin and Jennifer just believe that by taking the issue of budget right out of the equation, they can focus on the weddings themselves, and not the selling. "We would rather work with brides who appreciate our ongoing efforts to satisfy their every request. We welcome all brides to enjoy a coffee with us and discuss their details."
A Latte bride-to-be, Kyla Boyer had Latte photograph her engagement pictures for her upcoming June 2010 wedding. She told The Ring, "Their photos are nice and simple, very crisp and clear. Not too many fancy things; they just captured my fiancé and I perfectly."
Becky Sanderson and Louis Jones, who are tying the knot in September 2010, loved that they loved how they looked in their engagement photos when Latte was behind the camera. "I'm not used to liking so many pictures of myself," Becky says. "But even my fiancé who tends not to like photos of himself loved the work that Justin did." Becky liked Latte's style, as well. "I like the natural flow to it; you can look at the pictures Justin took at our engagement shoot and say: 'that is completely Louis and Becky'. It looks natural. It doesn't look fake…."
One thing seems to be common among all of Latte's brides, and that's that they love the full day coverage, which often equates to fifteen hours of shooting, or more!
Justin and Jennifer told us, "Latte's shooting style is candid and photojournalistic to capture the true emotions on your wedding day. No one generally likes having a camera in their face, especially for the entire day/night…" So, this photography couple strives to achieve the best possible photos by placing themselves at the right places at the right times, by shooting quickly, and by involving themselves in as much of the wedding itself as they can to help make sure they get the full picture. " No one has the time on their wedding day to pose for mock-ups and fake shots of the cake cutting, the dances, and all the other wonderful moments of their big day, so Latte says they make sure they are a part of your memorable events as they unfold. "That's just one of the reasons why our package has no time-limits, so we can be there to capture and share your moments whenever they occur".
Jill Poulin and her husband were married New Year's Eve 2009 and they hadn't originally intended to have a photographer until the last minute, they saw a Kijiji ad by Latte inviting couples to help them build their portfolio of work. "I replied to the ad right away and received a reply back by the next morning," says Jill. I met with Justin to find out what this was all about, and the more we were talking and getting to know each other, the easier it was to make my decision." One of the things she says she liked best about Latte Productions was that she didn't even realize they were shooting at her wedding. "At the ceremony they were very respectful to our wishes of being hidden and not so noticeable at the church. And at the reception they blended right in with everyone, and took some awesome pictures. Sometimes those are the best pictures, when people don't realize they are being photographed."
Kyla liked how quickly Latte got their proofs back after her engagement session. "It was within a week, just like Justin promised!" She told us that Justin was always easy to get a hold of. "He responds within minutes most times. Very reassuring... He even offered to edit and touch up the shots that a family member took when we got engaged! He offered to do this at no cost for us!"
Justin and Jennifer say that the couples hiring them don't want additional hourly bills for coverage. They want their entire wedding day covered, they want to be able to re-live and share their memories with family, friends, and one another. "Our couples know that special moments won’t just fall into a six to eight hour timeframe and that the only way to truly tell your whole day's story is to be their for the entire time."

From the beginning…
Latte Productions started out as a media company offering services such as websites, business cards, logos and the like to an audience primarily made up of other small businesses. Through Latte, Justin (who has a diploma in Business Management from Conestoga College) and Jennifer found themselves doing project photography and image editing to get the job done and realized they loved it.Justin and Jennifer told staff at The Ring, "Latte Productions Photography became an official new direction of the company in September 2009 when we began to market ourselves as primarily wedding photographers."

The idea behind Latte Productions
Justin and Jennifer want to build their company around affordability, no-limits on time, no-limits on photography, no-limits on travel, and complete flexibility in the lengths they'll go to cover your wedding. "We are always open to requests and are constantly looking for ways to enhance your event's coverage."Latte Productions covers full wedding days (from sunrise to the last dance and then some), two shooters and custom designed keepsakes - all for around $1000. Latte style
Because of their pricing and their newness to the wedding industry in the local area, Latte Productions Photography is attracting couples of every different style, "from budget brides who see the value in our work, to more modern brides who expect and anticipate paying several times our prices but have chosen us for our quality and attention to details."A Latte bride-to-be, Kyla Boyer had Latte photograph her engagement pictures for her upcoming June 2010 wedding. Excitement can be contagious
Justin and Jennifer say that every wedding is unique and every couple brings their own distinctive style and taste to the table. They find it easy to get caught up in the excitement of the wedding and their clients. "We are as excited as our couples are... We use that excitement and emotion to effectively capture their wedding."Newlyweds know
Because they were just married themselves, Justin and Jennifer say it's easy for them to connect with their clients. "When we sit with them and discuss their details, we realize that photography is only one more item on the wedding to-do list and that not asking the right questions can lead to some undesired results... We take our own experiences in front of the camera and work them into our questions for the brides and grooms to ensure they get the type of coverage they want and that our approach is clear and flexible to their needs."Latte's approach to photography packages & prices
When it comes to products and packages, Latte takes their own approach. First of all, by having full time day jobs they've made it easier on themselves to offer more options for less. But wow, they take the meaning of 'more' and run with it! "We have taken all of our best offerings and provided them in one feature package." A complete, no-limits package is the result, which includes: an engagement session, two photographers, processing of all photos taken, a wide array of editing options, high-quality photobook, slideshow, web-gallery, and all photos made available to the client without markings on DVDs.Kyla liked how quickly Latte got their proofs back after her engagement session.
