Matt and Evelyn knew right away that they wanted a September wedding. They felt September would be the perfect month “because the weather is usually fantastic.” They now laugh about it, admitting, “We were wrong! It was overcast, very cold and very windy that day. But at least it didn’t rain!” But with an outdoor ceremony in their plans, they knew they’d found THE location in The Ring when they came across a review on The Clearing (a wedding location in Sheddon, Ontario). The couple instantly fell in love with it’s natural beauty.

As if in warning that weather can always play a part in anything outdoors, it actually poured rain on the day they viewed The Clearing. But with a space so gorgeous, they opted not to worry about weather.

Their retro fashion, attention to all the fun details, and their and quirky wedding style gave this wedding day a superhero-style personality all of its own. The focus of their wedding was designed around this bride and groom’s fun personalities. They explained, "The easiest way to describe our theme was the anti-princess, nerdy wedding with a vintage flair." From cotton candy trees and super heros to Lego and vintage details, Jaclyn and Josh created a day that no one will soon forget.

Story by Jennifer Goulden

Andrea Jelly and Luke Nixon-Janssen have known each other since they were teenagers in Dorchester, Ontario. But it wasn't until they met again years later in Toronto that they wondered if there might be something more to it than friendship.

On their first night out together in Toronto the pair headed to China Town for dinner with a couple of Luke's friends. Andrea remembers opening her fortune cookie at the end of the meal and it saying she would reconnect with an old friend. After meeting in two different times in their lives and in two separate cities, Andrea says, "I suspected at that point that maybe it was a weird sign from the universe letting me know this was going to be something bigger. We became inseparable almost right away and moved in together a year later."

Val & Josh Reality Wedding Story

Val & Josh: One Perfect Day

June 21 2008 :: Delta London Armouries, London

By the time Joshua Barath proposed to Valerie Vafiades, their relationship had already spanned two continents (North America & Australia) and two and a half adventure-filled years of work,school and play. “We had some of the ups and downs that most long distance relationships do but we made it work... We had an amazing time traveling across the country together.” When Josh proposed during a weekend getaway at the Oakwood Inn, he brought out a treasure box with sand and the ring inside and got down on one knee. “There was a poem about walking on the beach and building a life together... I was on cloud nine. It was fabulous!”

Brian & Barry: Celebration of Love

June 7 2008 :: Dorchester

Barry Smith says that when he went on his first date with Brian Ennett, the pair were immediately lost in conversation. Both could tell that there was something truly special between them. “It just felt so right and so comfortable from the very beginning. We felt like we had known each other for a long time.” says Barry. And even though they both work opposite shifts and lead busy lives, Barry and Brian say they’ve never really been apart since. “We would meet for coffee after Brian got off work and before I left for work… Then we’d talk on the phone as I headed home to bed and he was going in to work his midnight shift…”
