Budgeting for We Inc.

Interviewing Gail Vaz-Oxlade of Til Debt Do Us Part (on Slice Network)

Gail Vaz-Oxlade has always taken a no-nonsense approach to budgeting, money management, and dealing with the financially distraught couples on her Slice television show, Til Debt Do Us Part. So when staff at The Ring spoke with her about marital money matters, her blunt but relationship-saving advice was no different.

Invitation Etiquette

Brides offer advice on a common planning dilemma

A wedding invitation is the first glimpse of the event to come that your guests receive, so making a first impression is an important aspect when choosing colours, style and paper. But perhaps most important is the words you use.

Sharing recipes with your guests

Brides offer advice on favour ideas with a ‘homey' factor

With a cup of love, a dash of chemistry, two tablespoons of forgiveness and a pinch of patience you're on your way to perfecting the recipe for a happy marriage. Sure, other newlyweds might appreciate this advice, but how can singles relate? And old married couples practically invented these recipes; so give your wedding guests a recipe they can all enjoy - a little piece of yourself as a wedding favour.

What You Probably Didn't Know about Your DJ

The Disc Jockey

What to look for in a DJ Since most disc jockeys’ music libraries are huge, you will rarely find musical reasons to hire one DJ or service over another. Focus instead on credentials and references. Ask about rates; if they are considerably lower than the industry norm, there may be a reason. If they are higher, ask for justification. Remember, you only get what you pay for.

The Wedding Bands

Serving Alcohol at your Reception

More information on the many options available for serving alcohol at your wedding reception...

Spare No Expense: The Open Bar (or host bar): This is for couples who have a good sized budget or who's parents are paying for this portion of the evening. An open bar means free pop, juices, wine and spirits for all guests. Definitely a hit at any reception, but not so much for the bride and groom if they're paying. One thing you need to think about is whether you want your guests getting more than a little tipsy and then leaving your event.
