A vintage love story for Larissa & Adam at Waterloo Regional Police Association

Larissa and Adam’s wedding day can only be described as a vintage love story. From vintage books, suitcases and an old timey typewriter, they were able to bring their vision to life at the Waterloo Regional Police Association…

Married couple: Adam and Larissa Weber

Wedding Date: July 20, 2019

Ceremony & Reception Location: Waterloo Regional Police Association (wrpa.org) “Our ceremony was out back at the pergola, and the reception was in the banquet hall. Our wedding coordinator Jennifer researched many different locations for us. The WRPA was the best for us budget-wise, and checked off all of our must haves. We wanted a location where our guests would arrive for the ceremony and be able to stay on-site for the reception, an outdoor space that we could use for the ceremony and different spaces/backdrops for photos so we didn’t have to travel off-site between ceremony and reception. The banquet hall was large, open, clean, and neutral enough that you could transform it to fit any theme. Jackie at the WRPA was an absolute dream. She answered any and all of our questions in a timely fashion. She was with us from the first meeting all the way through to the wedding day ensuring everything went smoothly. She has been a part of many weddings at the WRPA and can offer suggestions on how to make your day perfect for you. Brenda, the kitchen staff and wait staff were amazing. We had a few guests with dietary restrictions, and Jackie/Brenda made sure they were looked after.” – L

Colour Palette: Pink, white & silver/grey

Theme: “Our theme was ‘Vintage Love Story’. At our guest tables, we incorporated books into our centrepieces along with vintage cups and saucers with flowers. At each place setting, we had our handmade “Love” bookmarks (party favours). We had a vintage couch brought in for our photo booth, and used vintage suitcases to hold our props for people to use. We used a vintage typewriter to hold our welcome sign, we used vintage windows as our seating chart and we found a beautiful vintage desk to hold our beautiful wedding cake.” – L

Flowers: “Our wedding coordinator Heather did all of our flowers for the reception hall, ceremony as well as our bouquets. We opted for silk flowers for our bouquets as we were doing ‘first look’ pictures and didn’t want the real flowers to wilt before the ceremony. This was the best choice we made, as the day we were married – it was the hottest day of the summer and we were outside most of the afternoon taking our first look and wedding party photos. She used peonies, roses, astilbe, soft grey green greenery, wax flower, and white hydrangeas. The flowers were stunning and very affordable.

Décor:  Simply Unique Event Décor & Flowers (simplyuniqueflowers.ca). “Adam’s sister worked with Heather and her team to create a beautiful space for us, better than we could have envisioned. We found some of our décor items on the KW Wedding Swap Facebook group. Mandy (our photographer and my best friend) allowed us to borrow some of her photo props she uses for her photography business.” – L

Fav décor element: We had set up different areas throughout the hall, and each of them were gorgeous! When we walked into the hall on the day of the wedding, we were blown away with how beautiful everything looked!” – L

DIY: “Adam’s sister Jennifer, made all of our “Love” bookmarks by hand. We created our own photobooth area instead of renting a photobooth and saved a ton of money, and had it match our theme! Heather our decorator/wedding planner surprised us and made us a beautiful wooden trellis with a chandelier for our candy bar.” – L

Invitations/stationery: VistaPrint.

Cake: “Adam’s sister Jennifer made our beautiful cake for us as our wedding gift.” – L

Wedding favours: “Our wedding coordinator Jennifer handmade our “Love” Bookmarks.” – L

Bridesmaids attire and accessories: Sophie’s Gown Shoppe (sophiesgownshoppe.com) in Kitchener. “They were very helpful and everything came in exactly right!” – L

Bride’s dress and accessories: “I also got my dress Sophie’s Gown Shoppe in Kitchener and my headpiece was my ‘something borrowed’ from my sister.” – L

DJ: Jackie from Cherry Sounds Productions (cherrysoundsproductions.com). “Jackie was amazing! We provided her a list of all requests made on our RSVP cards and she made up the play list and added in some of our favourites too. She also helped with creating a daddy-daughter mash up dance we did to surprise our guests. She is so flexible, professional and is very prompt in her responses.” – L

Hair & Make-up: Hair – Sallie Armstrong. Make up –  Sara Galloway (@makeupbysgalloway)

Wedding Planner: “Adam’s sister Jennifer helped with all of the planning and coordination. She researched venue locations, DJ’s, officiants and introduced us to her friend Heather from Simply Unique Event Décor & Flowers, who we hired for coordination, décor and flowers. Jennifer was with us at every appointment and we cannot thank her enough for all she did to assist us in planning every detail for our special day.” – L& A

Photographer: Mandy from Mandy May Photography (facebook.com/hellomandymayphotography) “Mandy is a dear friend of ours, and has taken beautiful family photographs for us in the past, so we didn’t have to research at all! We knew right away she would be the perfect fit for us! Mandy is amazing to work with. I gave her a list of photos I wanted taken so no one was forgotten, and she was able to fulfill that list, and give us some candid shots that are some of our favourites. She is very creative and chose some beautiful areas for our photos. She put all of my nerves at ease and made everyone feel completely comfortable. She had fun with it, and that’s what we loved. Our first look pictures were my favourite. Getting to see Adam’s reaction as he turned around to see me was such a special moment. Also, we really enjoyed getting to hang out with our wedding party for the afternoon.” – L&A

Biggest challenge: “My biggest challenge was making decisions! There are so many options out there for weddings. We were so lucky to have Jennifer and Heather there to help us with the decision making.” – L

Fav wedding memory: “The whole day flew by so fast. The best memory for me, having two girls from a previous marriage, was including them in the wedding ceremony. Adam purchased both of the girls necklaces, and gave them to the girls during the ceremony while he thanked them both for sharing their mommy with him, for loving him and for allowing him to love them with all of his heart. That he was not there as they took their first steps but that he promises he will love and support the girls in every step they take in their lives.” – L

Advice from one couple to another: “The best advice I can give couples planning their wedding is to have fun with the process. I would also suggest to hire a wedding planner/coordinator to help you! The day will fly by, and so make sure you take time to stand back and take it all in.” – L
