Tamara, in-house wedding planner extraordinaire with over 150 weddings under her belt, walked us through the hotel and all the options they can offer. She told us her job gives her the chance to assist couples with planning their special day. “My favourite thing is watching them as a couple on the wedding day. Nothing beats seeing the joy it brings to create what they envisioned!”

Experiencing the Victoria Marriott for your wedding day…

The Marriott hosts ceremonies, receptions, rehearsal dinners, shows, brunches and, of course, accommodations for in and out of town guests – all with a reputation for service and style that is top of the class. Tamara says, “Our brides are those that look for the highest level of service, fantastic food and a relaxing experience!”

The staff and management at the Victoria Marriott take great pride in the hotel and are committed to ensuring that each and every guest receives the best service possible. “From our Front Office team welcoming our guests at the door, to our amazing Food and Beverage Team that go above and beyond to ensure the success of every event, we are all committed to working hard to create that perfect day for our couples.” says Tamara.

The Marriott offers completely customized weddings in any of the three different spaces available for weddings for 20 to 200 guests. This allows the Marriott to be able to do grand weddings in the Pacific Ballroom or smaller, intimate receptions in the Terrace Room or Garden. Christal and Ryan found that the Pacific Ballroom impressed them with its grandeur. “The Grand Ballroom had the wonderful chandeliers that created an elegant look which is what we were looking for.”

The most popular package that the Victoria Marriott offers couples is one that includes a ballroom rental, a cocktail reception, a fabulous dinner spread accompanied with wine, and a gorgeous one bedroom suite for the end of the night. This is a great option for those brides looking for the inclusive package without breaking the bank.

Tamara points out that they are also happy to work outside of the box for the more original bridal couple. “We love to customize! Whether its specialty logo’d desserts, a customized monogrammed backdrop, or bringing in a special cultural dish for the dinner – we do it all!”

Kyle & Kristyn Fuzi, who married June 9, 2012 at Marriott, researched venues in Victoria extensively for their big day. “We would definitely say that when we walked into the ballroom at Marriott it was love at first sight. We had a formal black tie James Bond theme and the ballroom was just perfect. What sealed the deal was the great prices and outstanding service from Tamara. They had a package deal that included dinner, cocktails, champagne and wine and the prices and quality just could not be beat anywhere.”

Cristal and Ryan, who married in the summer of 2012, couldn’t have agreed more. “Totally above and beyond. There was a problem with one of our vendors that we didn’t even hear about until later because Tamara just took care of everything for us.”

Walking you through the Marriott experience…

The first meeting with Tamara is where you will go through a wedding checklist with her. Tamara says, “It’s my go-to tool that I give all our brides to help with all the details we will need for the day. Leading up to the wedding day itself, there can be as many or as little appointments as you wish.” Emails and phones calls are more than welcome so that you can be reassured that everything is being taken care of and on time.

You are encouraged to bring your family and friends to the hotel the day before and enjoy a rehearsal – this is where the certified wedding planner can make a real difference! Whether your wedding is traditional or modern, Tamara can answer any questions on etiquette that you may be concerned about.

The Victoria Marriott prides itself on its cuisine so there is a special complimentary menu tasting that makes for a lovely night out. Tamara will follow up to be sure you are happy with your tasting and to make any changes necessary. This was an important perk for Cristal and Ryan. “Our tasting was amazing, and we appreciated that, because on our wedding day we knew we would barely eat a thing. It wasn’t something we wanted to be worried about and we didn’t have to!”

The Victoria Marriott’s commitment to cuisine continues past the supper hour. “We also have an amazing Banquet Team that are leaded by our Banquet Manager and captains who are there with the couple until the wee hours of the morning ensuring that the wedding cuisine goes smoothly!” Krysten freely admits, “If you were to ask our guests, I’m sure they would say the food was the most memorable thing about our wedding… lol!”

Christal and Ryan had a similar experience with their friends and family. “Our guests were talking about the staff and food – everyone was wowed by the experience. Really, really, really impressed.”

One of the biggest perks of the Victoria Marriott is Tamara herself. A graduate of Hotel Restaurant Manager Program, she trained in five star establishments and brings that sense of luxury to everything she does. “I am there start to finish. Working on a wedding is a very personal experience and often takes over a year to plan. Through that time, a relationship is formed with the couple and seeing the final day come together is my favorite part! The absolute joy that the day brings, and the love surrounding the couple, is amazing. And I love following up with the bridal couple to ensure their wedding day was everything they dreamed of and more!”

Kyle and Krysten felt that while the venue was a huge draw for them, the overall support that became a high point for them. “Tamara was there for us from the very beginning. We planned everything ourselves so we had so many questions. We were in constant contact with her and she was there for us though everything. In a word… it was fantastic!”

Cristal and Ryan really appreciated having an in-house wedding planner. “Tamara was very easy to work with and willing to change to what we were hoping to have. We had someone there to fix anything and everything!”
But Kyle and Krysten also had praise for the entire Marriott staff. “It is so important that you know that every part of the Marriott team were AMAZING. From the doormen to the front clerk, to the waiter/waitresses to Tamara and anyone one else we may have missed. First class service all the way!!!”

And the commitment to detail covers every part of the day. Kyle told The Ring, “This may sound so simple and silly, but our favourite memory would have to be when the wedding party got to the venue after taking pictures for a couple hours. We were waiting in the lobby for everyone to be seated for our grand entrance and Tamara brought us out a huge platter of appetizers for us to snack on while waiting. It was just perfect. We were all starving and had been drinking champagne in the limo so it was just what we needed.”
Cristal had her own memory. “One detail I will always remember is how, when my shoes were hurting my feet, I took them off and later that night I found them in our room. They had them taken there!”

Kyle appreciated the pricing. “They had the perfect package deal set so we did not need much customizing. However, we did request the option of bringing in an old traditional family dessert and they were more than accommodating. We would say the hardest part was choosing between food options given that it was all so amazing!”
