At StudioChris, the mission is to create an extraordinary timeless collection of fine art photographs. Chris identifies and captures client’s unique personality, their natural charm and converts it into an artwork image.

From Europe to Kitchener-Waterloo…

It was during the second grade that Chris Semcov first took an interest in photography. With help from his dad, he learned the dark room basics and fell in love with his craft. Since then, Chris has shot over 250 weddings in Europe and Canada.

After so many weddings, Chris still finds inspiration when shooting weddings. “I always knew that I would own my own photography business. This is what I love to do!” Chris admits, adding that capturing the emotion, love and laughter of such an important part in his client’s lives is an honour that he takes seriously.”

Shortly after moving to Canada, he opened StudioChris in 2009. As the main photographer, the demand for Chris’ services has increased. To accommodate his increasing clients, Chris does enlist help from a close knit group of trusted professional assistants and other photographers that he works with on a regular basis.

Last year, he took on fifteen weddings and has seen many former clients’ referring friends and family. “It’s nice to see a past groom’s sister from a 2010 wedding book her 2013 wedding with StudioChris,” admits Chris, adding that he also shot a client’s sister’s wedding after she was referred by her brother who enlisted StudioChris’ services in 2012.

Claire and Ryan Campbell said “I do” on August 9th, 2014. “We chose Chris because we were so impressed with the photos from my brother’s wedding and he was also able to drive to our farm,” explains Claire, adding that many other photographers stuck to the city.

“For as long as I can remember I’ve always had a camera in my hand,” Chris says. “Taking pictures of my family and friends was a part of my life. Today, I consider myself very lucky being able to earn a living doing something I truly love and I enjoy every single day.”

Experience & expertise….

Aside from decades of experience, Chris complimented his hands-on skills with his technical education. As a graduate from Spiru Haret College of Art and Trades as well as the prestigious New York Institute of Photography, Chris has also taken photography courses with highly acclaimed wedding photographer Ken Sklute, where he developed his wedding photographer eye and expand his wedding photography knowledge.

Michelle and Jason Spence got married on September 27, 2014. They enlisted photography services from StudioChris because of his unique style, use of colours, flexible packages and for the simple fact that he was different from every other photographer they looked at.

When remembering what Michelle and Jason loved best about their photo shoot with StudioChris, they recall how patient Chris was.

“He took his time and he didn’t rush the shoots. He gave directions when needed and for the engagement photos gave us two locations for the shoot which was great,” says Michelle, adding that Chris was very friendly, personable and sensitive to their needs. “Whatever you asked of him he would oblige to the best of his abilities. He seemed to take a real interest in our lives and getting to know us as a couple.”

Kemi Anazodo, who got married in June of 2014, wouldn’t hesitate to recommend StudioChris.

“He was very accommodating and willing to work with our budget,” Kemi explains, adding that Chris was personable and willing to go the extra mile. “I doubt we could find that anywhere else. We chose Studio Chris because we had a close friend who had Studio Chris as their photographer for their wedding.  Their wedding photos were beautiful and they had a great experience,” admits Kemi.  “As we were from outside of the area we wanted to go with someone we trusted and he exceeded our expectations.”

Although they booked Chris for 10 hours, Sherrie Whalen who married on October 25th, 2014 wedding, realized she and her husband wanted some party shots and Chris was scheduled to finish up before the party even started.

“We spoke to Chris and he stayed an extra two hours for a fee, but we were very grateful that he stayed.”

Four reasons why brides love StudioChris…

There are countless reasons why brides love Chris at StudioChris, but here are the top four reasons.

  1. Chris can adjust his photography style to suit any couple and any wedding day. This ensures your photos are a true, timeless reflection of your personalities.

“In terms of his personality he is very nice, answered all the questions I had and took his time to get to know me. The quality of his work is excellent and his prices are within our budget,” Michelle says.

  1. With experience shooting around the world, Chris really has seen it all! He has the knowledge and skills needed to shoot a wide range of wedding rituals from a variety of religions.
  2. StudioChris is all about creative, one of a kind images – you won’t see typical cookie cutter shots! “Creativity will always be our way to express and challenge the flow of life,” explains Chris. This creativity is what allows Chris to choose the right moment to press the camera shutter and capture amazing moments that stand the test of time. “Through our creativity we make sure that our customers receive a unique product according to their specific style.”

“We had 4 locations (farm, barn, house and reception),” explains Claire. While Chris worked off a provided list of shots the couple wanted including photos with picture frames and mirrors, he also added his own creative touch to truly create lasting memories that Claire and Ryan would cherish forever.

Sherrie had two outdoor locations – a local park and a pumpkin patch. Chris followed the party bus to the two location to accommodate the request.

“With all his great ideas, we got some really great shots. He just makes things easy.” Sherrie also had two young girls in the wedding party and she recalls how good Chris was with kids. “As a birde, we have a million and one things to worry about, but having Chris with us for the day, I knew our photos were going to be great!”

  1. After the wedding, Chris keeps in touch with his clients. “We are always trying to be there for our client’s photography needs. We take care in building the relationship with each customer; therefore, we are also providing photography services such as Pregnancy & Newborn Photography, Family, Event Photography and much more.” Staying in touch with clients allows Chris to touch those special moments of joy in their lives again and again. “At StudioChris, we believe that our outstanding services and the quality of our photography work is what makes our customers ask for more.”

Not only did Claire and Ryan have Chris take their wedding photographs and video, they also enlisted his services for two sets of family photos. “The fact that he’s been back twice to do family photos speaks volumes that he’s built our trust as a photographer,” admits Claire.

Our experience was excellent,” admits Kemi.  “Chris has always been very friendly, reasonable, and accommodating.  In fact we also had Chris do our engagement photo session as well as our pregnancy shoot and newborn shoot.  He truly has captured some of the most important moments in our lives over the past few years, we wouldn’t have anyone else be a part of that.”

The StudioChris style…

Although Chris is able to adapt to any couple and any style, he admits that he usually likes to shoot a mix of candid, informal, traditional and contemporary pictures. “StudioChris unique style of photography is crafted by combining contemporary Fine Arts with the latest trends in photography,” he explains.

For Chris, some of his favorite images happen when his clients don’t realize that their having their photo taken, “They are enjoying and being themselves.” These make for some fabulous candid moments that are completely natural.

For Claire, there were a few important shots she wanted and Chris was happy to work with her requests. “He followed us driving away from the ceremony in my husband’s old jeep. He captured the wind in my veil and the “just married” sign on the back. We had it made into a large canvas and treasure it,” she says.

“He gives his work his own personal touch, and although he spends lots of time putting it together carefully he also delivers the product in a timely manner,” says Kemi.

Customizing your day…

While StudioChris offers several great package options, couples can also customize a package to suit their own needs.

Melanie and Michael Therrien, who married November 21, 2016 had Chris shoot their engagement and wedding photos.

“We thought Chris’s prices were very competitive. It was actually the first thing that got my attention to him at the wedding show. We would most definitely recommend Chris’s services; we have nothing but good things to say about everything he provided us with,” Melanie says. “We loved that he was very professional and knew exactly what angles and locations would look best.”

According to Claire, Chris’ prices are very reasonable and worth every penny. Aside from the memories created, the wedding photos are all that remains of the big day.

“At StudioChris we treat every single photography project as unique. Listening to our customers’ needs is very important for us. We are always open to any preferences, requests or suggestions they might have. At the end they will have a package build according to their specific needs,” Chris says.

“Chris was able to bundle a videographer in his price, not all photographers do this. He also climbed a 25 ft. ladder on a boom truck to get a group shot of all 350 of our guests! I don’t think he’s crazy about heights, but the photo is one of our favourites,” recalls Claire.

Why You Love This Company

5 5 1
We were very happy with Chris’ work at our wedding. He was present at a number of locations including home, church and restaurant. As you can imagine he had to adapt to a number of environments, indoor and outdoor as well as different angles, lighting, shades, small or large groups He mingled well with our guests and ensured that we were all where we needed to be to ensure that the pictures come out well. The end product was excellent from a technical and artistic point of view. I have no hesitation in recommending him because he is both professional and accomplished.

We found Chris's website while we were researching wedding photographers. I worked for a photographer and in the photography business for several years and after seeing his work I had to meet him. We were so impressed with his passion and attention to detail. Photos last forever and we knew we could trust him to ensure our wedding was captured perfectly. The turn around time on the final images was amazing and they are some of the best wedding photos I have seen. He is reasonably priced but don't let that make you think his work is reasonable it is amazing!
