Red Bicycle Paper Co. is about creative textures, gorgeous designs, custom everything, and the opportunity to work with talented artist, Heather Nagle. Since 2013, this Cambridge business owner has made it her career to take your wedding theme and design vision to the next level through creative wedding stationery. Invitations, menus, place cards, envelopes and pocket folds, signage, and thank-you cards are just some of the options you’ll have when you visit Heather at her studio in Cambridge for an in-person consult.
Red Bicycle works with design styles ranging from traditional to rustic to fun and flirty. And if you opt for day-of stationery, Heather will even set it up personally. Essentially, if you can think it, she can likely make it happen – at competitive prices.
Here’s everything a bride or groom needs to know about choosing Red Bicycle Paper Co. for their event stationery…
About Red Bicycle…
Whether it’s painting, drawing or colouring, Heather has always been creative and crafty. Combined with a degree in Advertising & Communications (Mohawk College), She created her first official invitation in 2010 for her son’s birthday party when she couldn’t find stationery to suit the theme she had chosen. From there, she began designing for friends and family.
“I decided that I loved it so much, that I should find a way to design full-time,” says Heather. “In 2013, Red Bicycle Paper Co. was officially born and I haven’t looked back since!”
Most of Heather’s training comes from hands-on designing over the years, but she is constantly learning new programs and processes to expand her portfolio so she can offer couples more design options.
Helen Sinclair chose Red Bicycle because she found Heather to be extremely friendly and willing to work with different styles of invites. “We found very few other companies who were willing to try new styles,” says Helen. “When we met with Heather for the first time, she brought some samples of different past styles and has some rough work of what we wanted our style to look like,” explains Helen. “She went out and sourced many choices so we had lots to work with.”
Grace McNeil and her husband, Parker chose to hire Heather because of her personality and because of all of the beautiful invitations. “We loved mostly that she didn’t seem to have one particular creative style. The work we saw seemed to show a lot of different styles which is another reason we hired her – we knew that she was capable.”
What Red Bicycle offers…
Heather’s business offers truly unique stationery that is completely custom designed and tailored to each and every couple. She strives to capture the vision of the couple and turn it into beautiful stationery for their wedding day. “Most couples come to me for wedding invitations and day-of stationery. Being able to customize down to the smallest detail is important for couples. It’s also a plus when your place cards and menus coordinate with your wedding invitations – this gives your wedding continuity and allows you to follow your theme through your guest’s entire wedding experience,” says Heather,
“Every couple I meet has different ideas and it’s inspiring to be able to combine fonts, paper and texture to design their perfect wedding stationery…”
“I love meeting couples and working through the process with them,” says Heather who has designed stationery for 24 weddings at the time of our interview. “I have personal contact throughout the entire design process – morning, noon and night.” Heather offers her clients knowledge and know-how about invitation etiquette, as well as answering any “tough questions”.
Helen found the creative style offered at Red Bicycle to be beyond what she imagined. “I would shoot her some ideas from different invites I liked in the past and she went and put together a few options and even meshed some together which was exactly what we wanted.” Helen describes Heather has an absolute pleasure to work with. “Since our wedding in 2015 we have continued to follow Heather and Red Bicycle on Facebook and Instagram and her ideas of new wedding invites continue to amaze me,” admits Helen.
“Weddings make up 90% of my portfolio and most of my work comes before the big day,” she says.
If the couple orders day-of stationery, Heather is there on the wedding day to set everything up and make it look beautiful. “I work with venues, florists and decorators when setting up day-of stationery like place cards, seating charts, menus and programs at the venue.”
“We loved working with Heather,” admits Grace. “She was always happy and personable. She listened to us and was able to offer suggestions for wording and some etiquette issues we had surrounding our guest list. I had been stressing about invitations for months, and after we sat down with her, I felt at ease, and she made me feel excited about everything! The whole process was easy and we are absolutely in love with our invitations.”
Heather treats her couples as close friends and gets excited about their wedding and what she is doing to help them bring their vision to life. “I am able to work within their budget and offer design options to enhance their stationery.”
Every aspect of a couples wedding stationery is completely customizable – from the design, fonts and colours to envelopes and pocket folds.
Helen considered Red Bicycle’s prices to be very reasonable: “We had a budget and when we would choose something over budget she would source different items to make sure it was affordable and back within our budget,” explains Helen, adding that she loved seeing her sneak peaks of our invites on Facebook or Instagram. “It made me so excited to get them in person and send them out!”
Grace found Red Bicycle’s prices to be competitive with other businesses, but one thing that made Heather’s business stand out is the fact that she offered some cost saving options so that they didn’t have to skimp on their desired designs.
