{Reality Wedding Story} Vintage Romance at Grey Silo | Steven & Melanie

Steven and Melanie wanted to bring vintage to life with a ton of romance at their Grey Silo wedding. From the beautiful purples, grey’s and lace throughout the room to the cake and old luggage chest for cards, they definitely achieved the look they were going for!

BRIDE & GROOM: Steven & Melanie Weaver

WEDDING DATE: July 16th, 2016

CEREMONY & RECEPTION LOCATION: Grey Silo Golf Club (www.golfgreysilo.ca)

PHOTOGRAPHY: Dan Hauser of HauserWorks Photography (www.hauserworks.com)

DECOR: Hollywood Weddings (www.hollywoodweddings.ca)

INVITATIONS/STATIONARY: “A personal friend of mine, Jamie Baggio designed the invitations and she did an unbelievable job!”

WEDDING FAVOURS: “I found tiny burlap bags on Wedsy (www.wedsy.ca) that said “Love is Sweet” which we filled with Hershey kisses.”

DJ: DJ Charlie Clean (www.djcharlieclean.ca)

CAKE: “A very close friend of mine made our cake and cupcakes as our wedding gift. This was a very special element of our wedding and it was one of my favourite tables at our wedding.”

WEDDING PLANNER: Leah Craig Events  (www.leahcraigevents.com) “We cannot say enough good things about Leah. We could not have put together our wedding without her, that’s for sure!”

BRIDE’S ATTIRE: Taylor’s Bridal Boutique (www.taylorsbridal.com) | Accessories from Urban Bride Boutique (www.myurbanbride.com) and David’s Bridal (www.davidsbridal.ca)

BRIDESMAIDS ATTIRE: Ballett’s in Kitchener (www.balletts.com)

COLOUR PALETTE: “We had deep purples and grey in the wedding party and the overall room décor as ivory, blush and mauve.”

THEME: Vintage lace with a hint of romance

FAV DECOR ELEMENT: “I loved my centrepieces which were re-purposed from our aisle decorations. Lori from Hollywood Weddings put together a combination of tall ivory vintage lanterns and mason jars, along with the gorgeous ivory hydrangeas. I also loved the soft backdrop that was used on either side of the stone fireplace. It really made for a stunning focal point in the room.”

DIY: “I created all of my own signage by way of using a tracing method. I also made most of the stands for our cake and cupcake table. I found beautiful china at some local second hand shops and made some one tier and three tired cake stands with crystal candlesticks. It was very simple to do and was probably my favourite DIY project.”

BEST WEDDING MEMORY: “Having our youngest walk down the aisle as ring bearer with my sister, who was my matron of honour, and our oldest son walking me down the aisle to his father. That was a special moment for all or us. We really wanted our children to be a part of our day.”

BIGGEST CHALLENGE: “We have two young children, so trying to plan, meet with vendors and work on our DIY projects was really challenging. Not to mention having full time jobs, with one of us commuting four hours to and from work each day, really made it challenging.”

ADVICE FROM ONE BRIDE TO ANOTHER: I think the best advice we can give is to hire a decorator and a planner, if it’s within your budget. We didn’t want to have to be responsible for doing any set up of the hall beforehand, nor did we want to have to pack everything up at 1 am. The decorators and the wedding planner did all of this for us and we could just focus on other things the week leading up to the big day and of course the day of.
