{Reality Wedding Story} Rustic Vintage Romance at Elm Hurst Inn | Sarah & Mitch

Sarah and Mitchell’s wedding day was full of history! From the home Sarah grew up in (built in 1856!) to the beautiful Elm Hurst Inn and Spa. Everywhere you looked you could see vintage touches and it all added to the look and feel that they were wanted for their special day…

Bride & Groom: Sarah Johnson and Mitchell Zorzit

Wedding Date:  June 3, 2017

Ceremony & Reception Location: Elm Hurst Inn & Spa (elmhurstinn.com) “We chose the Elm Hurst because we were planning our wedding from out of town, so we wanted an “all-inclusive” location. Also, it was really important to me that I got ready at my parent’s house in Embro, Ontario. The Elm Hurst was the best choice for our needs, and a great location to host out-of-town guests.” – S

Colour Palette: Neutrals, wooden and metallic elements

Theme: “Our theme was “Rustic Vintage Elegance”. Both the venue and the home I grew up in, built 1856, provided a vintage backdrop for our photos. We incorporated antiques in our photos including an antique couch, hall tree, and make-up vanity. We did our first-look photos at the Ingersoll Cheese Museum, which replicates a pioneer farming village. We used a lot of lace, metallics and wood accents to incorporate our theme at the reception.” – S

Flowers: Devine Wedding Design (devineweddingdesign.ca) “We had neutral and pink roses for the bride and bridesmaids bouquets. The ceremony flowers and centrepieces included a lot of greenery, and more of our neutral colour palette.” – S

Décor: “Devine Wedding Design did our decor as well. We used wood accents including wine barrels, harvest tables, signs, and cross-back chairs, as well as neutral linens and lace/metallic accents.” – S

Fav décor element: Wooden harvest tables.

DIY: “Our biggest DIY project was our jam jar favors. My parents and in-laws got together last summer to make the strawberry jam. We covered them in a lace overlay with a gold tag labelled “jam packed with love”.” – S

Invitations/stationery: Vista Print (vistaprint.ca)

Cake: Old Bakery Cafe, Ingersoll (theoldebakerycafe.com)

Groomsmen and Groom’s attire: Moores Clothing for Men (mooresclothing.com)

Bridesmaids attire and accessories: David’s Bridal (davidsbridal.ca)

Bride’s dress and accessories: The Bridal Closet, Sault Ste. Marie (thebridalclosetssm.ca)

Photographer: Kelly Taylor Bridal Lounge, Ingersoll (thebridallounge.ca) “I met Kelly because she did my sister’s wedding, and I knew instantly when I met her that I would book her for my wedding one day. Five years later, she was the first vendor I emailed after we got engaged! She has the most amazing energy to keep you going on your wedding day. She also made us calm before the big day by having everything organized and planned out. Kelly Taylor knows the Ingersoll area better than anyone, and we got some creative, beautiful photos as a result.” – S

Biggest Challenge: “Our biggest challenge was planning the wedding from out of town. We live in Sault Ste. Marie now, so we only came down to do wedding planning for a limited number of visits. Our venue, family, and vendors did an amazing job at bringing our vision together, which made the day seamless.” – S&M

Fav wedding memory: “My best memory of our wedding is walking down the aisle and seeing my groom. We did a first look as well before the wedding, which I found to be so relaxing and intimate for us, which Mitchell says was his favourite moment.” – S

Advice from one bride to another: “My advice to other brides would be to spend some quiet, alone time with your groom on the day of the wedding, either before or after the ceremony. Also, don’t be afraid to incorporate your friends/family, and their important traditions, into your day. They are happy to help and it makes the day so much more special for everyone.” – S
