{Reality Wedding Story} High ceilings, big windows & wood beams makes Grey Silo Sarah & Shaun’s perfect wedding venue

Sarah & Shaun originally wanted a rustic, elegant outdoor wedding. But Sarah says she quickly found out that there are many benefits to being inside… “…like having air conditioning and not having to worry so much about the potential of rain! This is why I loved Grey Silo Golf Course‘s big windows in the room, and having access to the balcony. I also love the barn look of the room with the high ceilings and beautiful wood flooring and beams…” With the help of the right location and some great design, Sarah & Shaun had their dream wedding day…

FLOWERS: The Creative Bride (creativebride.ca). “They ended up being beautiful beyond my expectations. She used white and blush flowers, with mixed greenery and succulents.” – S

DÉCOR:  The Creative Bride (creativebride.ca). “We had lights strung up from the beams in the ceiling and beautiful flowers draped over the mantel of the fireplace. We also had a lace blush overlay on all of the tables. On our head table, we had a runner of flowers and greenery going down the center, and on guest tables we had a mirror and small vase with flowers on top.” – S

“My favorite décor element was definitely the mantel of the fireplace. The fireplace is beautiful on its own, but was taken to a whole new level [by The Creative Bride] with candles and gorgeous flowers and greenery decorating the mantel. It was a really nice focal point of the room.” – S

DIY: “I avoided DIY projects as much as possible. It was really nice to have The Creative Bride handling the decorations so I didn’t need to worry about the details. Instead of using a traditional head table, we used a King’s table. I loved this layout as it allowed for everyone in the wedding party to talk to each other more easily. It also felt more comfortable, since it was similar to having dinner on a regular day with the people I love.” – S

PHOTOBOOTH: Never Forget Photo (neverforgetphoto.ca) “Everyone thought it was a lot of fun! We were able to create a guestbook throughout the night where people put messages beside their photo strips, which was a nice keepsake from the day.” – S&S

INVITATIONS/STATIONARY: Designed by my sister, Meghan Bacso (meghanbacso.com)

CAKE: Sweet Cheeks cupcakes (sweetcheekscakes.com)

WEDDING FAVOURS: “Succulents from a greenhouse and wine openers from Wedding Favours Canada” – S

GROOMSMEN & GROOMS ATTIRE: Moore’s Clothing for Men (mooresclothing.com)

BRIDESMAIDS ATTIRE & ACCESSORIES: David’s Bridal (davidsbridal.ca) & Etsy (etsy.com)

BRIDES DRESS & ACCESSORIES: Crème Couture (cremecouture.ca) & Etsy for jewlery

DJ: A friend, Hayden Ward

HAIR & MAKE-UP: Oz Hair and Skin (www.ozhairandskin.com) did my bridesmaids hair and my friends Lina El Mugammar did my hair and make-up and my mom’s hair. Brianna Peifer did my mom’s and bridesmaids makeup

FAVOURITE MEMORY: “It’s difficult to choose the best memory of my wedding because I truly enjoyed every moment of the day. Looking back, I would say my favorite moment was walking down the aisle and seeing my husband, Shaun, waiting for me at the end of it. I was just really happy and excited about our future together in that moment.” – S

OFFICIANT: Katherine Dimou (lifetimeceremonies.com)

PHOTOGRAPHER: “My photographer was my cousin, Ryan Faist (http://ohboywonder.com/). I chose him because I wanted to involve my friends and family in my wedding, and because he has a really unique and creative style of photography. Ryan was great to work with! He did a great job of organizing everyone for the group shots, and was also amazing at capturing more candid moments. My favorite part of the photos was the candid shots. He did a great job of capturing the essence of the day and I will treasure the moments he captured in the photos for many years to come.” – S

BIGGEST CHALLENGE: “The biggest challenge for me was making time to plan the wedding. I am a graduate student, and can often have a hectic schedule. The way I handled this was to hire a decorator to manage all the decor aspects of the wedding so that I wouldn’t have to try and fit DIY projects into my schedule. It was also helpful that Grey Silo handled all the food and drinks for the night, so I didn’t have to arrange any outside catering. In addition, my mom was a great help and took care of many details, like putting together the wedding favours.” – S

ADVICE FROM ONE BRIDE TO ANOTHER: “Don’t sweat the small stuff. Even if everything doesn’t go perfectly, it will still be a great day because you get to marry your best friend! You’ll be able to enjoy your wedding more if you think of it as a celebration of your relationship, and a step towards your future together rather than as the be-all-end-all.” -S
