{Reality Wedding Story} Fresh Country Wedding in St. Clements, Ontario

This gorgeous country wedding took place in St. Clements, Ontario, at the home that Melissa’s grandparents built from scratch, that her mother now owns, and that Melissa spent time at throughout her childhood.

BRIDE & GROOM:  Melissa Bruggemann & Jeremy Young
WEDDING DATE: August 27, 2016

PLANNING & DESIGN: Ainsley at Fresh Look Design Event & Wedding Specialist (FLD), Kitchener (freshlookdesign.ca)

THEME & DESIGN: Ainsley  at FLD named it ‘fresh country’: “It was rustic but we held back on the hay bails and burlap. We wanted it to be more earthy, fresh and very relaxed. Ainsley did all the décor. She did all of our table settings…table linen, tables, espresso garden chairs, gold charger plates, old door with accessories, 24” LOVE marquee sign, cruiser tables with linen, ceremony flowers, accessories for signing table (guest book and also at the ceremony), candle holders, garland… FLD were instrumental in bringing our vision to life.” – M&J

FLORALS: Ainsley at FLD. Melissa admits she has no idea what types of flowers Ainsley used. “We just told her our vision and she completely nailed it.” – M

PHOTOGRAPHY: Jaime Coyle Photography, Kitchener (jaimecoyle.com) Melissa remembers finding Jaime online. “I looked at quite a few photographers but kept coming back to her website. Her style is very candid…and it was exactly what we were looking for. Not only is she an extremely talented photographer, but she is such an amazing person.” – M

DIY PROJECTS: “We took on too many DIY projects to mention,” says Melissa who did a lot of the small décor items – the “memory tree”, mason jar lights in the trees, seating charts, signs… “Jeremy and his father, Al, took on the largest projects. Everything wooden (milled or barn board) that you saw was made by them. Al has a wood mill and he and Jeremy spent 1000+ hours crafting everything;  the two barn board bars, the huge backdrop, the cake table, drink stand, podium, and the easles. The compliments on the DIY items they made are still coming to this day. We have even had some order requests come in for the drink stand and the barn wood benches!” – M

CATERING: “The day wouldn’t have been the same without Little Mushroom Catering, Cambridge (littlemushroomcatering.ca) by our side. Steph & Beth were truly instrumental in making the day a success…The food was phenomenal…” – M

BIGGEST CHALLENGE: “Being crafty people, we wanted to take on a lot of DIY and it got to a point where we just had to bite the bullet, open the wallet and pay someone else to do it. It’s not worth your sanity!” – M&J

BEST ADVICE, ONE BRIDE TO ANOTHER: “For an outdoor wedding, you might worry about the rain, but on the day of, the rain really doesn’t phase you!” – M
