{Reality Wedding Story} Elegant, Modern and Fancy | Leila & Landon

From spectacular flowers, a traditional Chinese tea ceremony and not one, but three wedding dresses, Leila and Landon got the wedding day they were dreaming of and so much more! Their wedding was full of elegant blush and fancy silver tones that would make anyone swoon…

Bride & Groom: Leila Zhu & Landon Hang

Wedding Date: August 6th 2016

Ceremony & Reception Location: Best Western Plus Lamplighter Inn (lamplighterinn.ca)

“I wanted to have an outdoor ceremony at first but the weather was my biggest concern about outdoor wedding. Then we found Lamplighter Inn, they have a beautiful atrium with all the tropical plants, water pool, and full glass ceiling which gives wonderful lighting. Together with the very spacious crystal ball room decorated with very fancy and elegant chandeliers. It just matches so perfectly with our wedding theme.” – L

Colour Palette: Blush pink, silver, champagne, ivory

Theme: Elegant, modern and fancy!

Flowers: For bouquets: Different shades of light pink roses and for the centrepieces we had pink roses and ivory hydrangea

Décor: Unmistakably you (unmistakablyyou.com)

“For the ceremony we had ivory runners spread with rose petals, ivory chair covers with pink sashes tied on the side. We had a blush pink backdrop with three Victorian style mirrors and chandeliers hanging in front of it.” – L

Favourite décor element: “To be honest, I love everything in my wedding!” -L

“Other than the western ceremony, we also had a traditional Chinese tea ceremony held in the morning at my parents’ house and during the reception when we both wear traditional Chinese outfits. I had my traditional Chinese outfit (Qipao) customized in China. Our family and wedding planner helped us a lot with the ceremony, such as preparing the tea, making sure the ceremony was going in the right order (tea has to be served from the most elderly to the youngest relatives).” – L

Photographer: Sandra Dufton Photography (sandraduftonphotography.ca)

“Sandra was recommended by a friend who got married two years ago who also used Sandra as their wedding photographer. Sandra is a not only a great photographer but also a great person to work with. She is so passionate about weddings and photography, very responsive with emails and phone calls, and flexible with schedules. I love how she can always catch the moments that melt our hearts. We see our real selves through her lens.” – L

Biggest Challenge: “We had around 220 guests in our wedding day. The biggest challenge is to track down each invitation we sent out and match with replies we received. When getting close to the deadline, you have to find out the ones who haven’t RSVP’d and politely ask/remind them. We even asked all the guests to list their names on the RSVP cards but we still received RSVP cards with no names on them which is very difficult to track down who sent it. A great suggestion from my sister in law is using a light pencil to number all the RSVP cards on the back so it will be much easier to keep record.” – L

Favourite Memory: “Actually, when I think about it after the wedding, I did enjoy my ‘bridezilla’ moments the most. It made you understand how much your other half supports you and loves you. They will do whatever you want to make you happy, to make your wedding day the most special day in your life.” -L

Advice from one bride to another: “If possible, don’t schedule too many things the day before your wedding day. Try to relax and have fun with your close friends and relatives. There are so many things and people who get involved in a wedding, and it’s almost impossible to get everything to go perfectly, so don’t get yourself stressed over little details. When the day finally comes, let your trusted wedding planner, friends and family in charge. It is a long day but you will be so surprised how fast it goes by, enjoy every second of it! No matter how busy and overwhelmed your wedding schedule is, try to take some time with your life partner alone to let him/her know that you are there with them.” – L
