Kiley + Jonas Whytock | July 23rd, 2016 | Cranbrook
At first, Kiley and Jonas had wanted a backyard wedding, but Kiley says “…once we started our guest list, we realized it wasn’t possible. We found Cabin Pondview (owned by Dave and Karen Smith) in Cranbrook. As soon as we pulled up to it, we knew it was perfect, private and us. The shed is actually the reception space and beautifully pine lined with a large bar and built-in bathrooms. Not to mention an adorable cottage where the guys stayed the night before and got ready in. The ponds are beautiful. Who wouldn’t want to get married there!?”
PHOTOGRAPHY: Alicia Riley Photography, SW Ontario (♥) “Alicia Riley was my top pick after seeing her past weddings and I knew I would wait a year just to have her! Alicia captured our love so perfectly. You can see how much we love each other and it makes me feel like I’m right back there. Her photos feel like they are real moments. It’s everything a picture should be.” – Kiley
LOCATION: Cabin Pondview, Cranbrook (email@example.com)
GUESTS: 156 for the ceremony and dinner including wedding party. 256 for the reception.
BIGGEST CHALLENGE: “Over-thinking things. With two kids under my toes, it did keep things interesting! There are always hiccups and tough decisions to make during this time but my advice is, don’t let it get to you. Take a deep breath and do what you can! I had my wedding book and had list and list of things to do, getting each one done felt so good to cross off!” – Kiley
THEME: Kiley used Pinterest for inspiration and envisioned hydrangeas, moss and succulents in the country theme. “My amazing florist, Amanda White, at Buds and Blossoms, helped me bring all my ideas together. Harvest tables and fruit wood chivari chairs were ordered the night we got engaged from Burkes Tent Rentals. We loved the raw wood and it made it very timeless. I didn’t want to overdo the details and wanted it very classic but simple. We have two beautiful children together, so for us, it was the easier, the better. Navy suits had caught my eye. I worked with colours from there and paired with gold silverware and plates while the bridesmaids chose gold sequins. The bridesmaids looked beautiful!” – K
