{Real Wedding Story} Vintage modern | Meg & Brandon

BRIDE & GROOM: Meg Pottruff & Brandon Thornton

WEDDING DATE: May 25th, 2019

LOCATION: Dundas Valley Golf and Curling Club (dundasvalleygolf.com) Dundas, ON “We immediately fell in love with the 180° view of the Niagara Escarpment, Dundas Peak and their beautiful golf course. The Dundas Peak has always been a favourite hiking place of ours, so it was a perfect fit. The venue offers and organizes all the food, linens and décor, etc. which was exactly what we were looking for.” – M

PHOTOGRAPHY: A Nash Photograph (♥) (anashphotograph.com) Cambridge, ON “Amy is family, so aside from it being an obvious choice, her portfolio speaks for itself. She and Deane have captured many of life’s biggest moments perfectly. We had the pleasure of working with Amy as she took our engagement photos 2 years prior. After nailing those photos we couldn’t have been more excited to have her photograph our day.” – M

# GUESTS: 125

BUDGET: $25,000 – $30,000

THEME: “Vintage modern with ivory, corals, soft pinks and hints of dark blue. The inspiration originally came from a vintage crystal candy dish found while thrift shopping and we thought they would make the perfect centrepieces.” – M

FLORALS: Burlap & Lace Florals (burlapandlace.ca) Hamilton, ON

DIY: “We did a lot of DIY! From our repurposed cork seating chart to paper flowers and numbers we cut out, to our hand stamped favour bags, even our homemade wooden guest book.” – M

CAKE: Sweet Bakery (sweetbakerybrant.ca) Brantford, ON

BRIDE ATTIRE: David’s Bridal (davidsbridal.ca) Cambridge, ON

BRIDESMAID ATTIRE: eShakti (eshakti.com)

GROOM + GROOMSMEN ATTIRE: Moores Clothing for Men (♥) (mooresclothing.com) Kitchener, ON

DJ: Ruby Entertainment (rubyentertainment.ca) Hamilton, ON

HAIR: Twisted Sisters on Dundson, Brantford, ON

MAKEUP: Makeup by Amber Baker (facebook.com/ makeupbyamberbaker) Paris, ON

BEST MEMORY: “Our favourite memory was our first look. Finally getting to see each other after the rush of getting ready in the morning then having a few moments to ourselves was very special. It also allowed us to take in a bit of our cocktail hour without the rush.” – M

ADVICE, ONE COUPLE TO ANOTHER: “Surround yourself with people who have the best intentions for you. The last 3-4 months are the craziest! The key is to get some of the little things out of the way early. Also, remember it is your day as a couple – do what you want to do.”- M
