BIGGEST CHALLENGE: “Mitch proposed to me in 2016 on my birthday December 3rd, in Niagara Falls. I went into full wedding planning mode. We picked our date of June 30th, 2019. I found a beautiful farm just outside of Woodstock. It was everything we could have wanted. We put down a partial deposit on February 3th, 2017 locking in 2017 pricing. We thought we had checked one major item off our list. So much was included; the venue, the catering, amazing vintage china and décor that was exactly what we had imagined. I went on with my planning until July 20th, 2017 when I was looking at google reviews on our venue and found that they had been shut down by the township in April 2017. They neglected to tell us or refund our money. Unfortunately by the time we found out, we had missed out on locking in 2017 pricing with other venues and we were still fighting for our deposit back. The wedding we wanted was getting farther away and more expensive. We just wanted to get married!
So we started planning a cruise up the east coast of Canada. We tried to book our wedding with the cruise line, but they wouldn’t let us rent a space on the ship to have our ceremony. They required us to choose one of the expensive wedding packages that started at $4500 USD. So we decided to cancel the cruise and do a backyard wedding. Fast forward to August 2018, I was having a very hard time getting vendors booked because it was so close to our wedding date.
Then in September I was scrolling Instagram and came across a post about Pop Up Weddings. It was perfect! It was everything we needed all wrapped into a perfect package. I emailed them right away and 3 days later we had our Pop Up Wedding booked for October 13th, 2018 at 10:30am!! We met with Lovely Weddings at the Walper Hotel the next weekend and everything just fell into place from there! We got the most romantic venue, amazing photographer, a wonderful officiant, a fantastic team of planners, magical flowers and décor, beautiful invitations and 26 of our closest family and friends. And even our 2 chihuahuas!
It was the most magical stress-free day we could have imagined. I was able to enjoy every single moment because Kim and Jess of Lovely Weddings had everything taken care of ! Everyone we invited was able to come to our wedding on 3 weeks notice and a few family members and friends who live in Alberta and Australia were able to watch our ceremony via facebook live.” – M
