{Real Wedding Story} Jamaica one love | Velvet & Ariston

BRIDE & GROOM: Velvet & Ariston Corlette

WEDDING DATE: November 26th, 2018

LOCATION: The Hilton Rose Hall Resort & Spa – Montego Bay, Jamaica “We researched a few hotels that we liked the look of and had positive feedback from ‘destination wedding’ groups. Then once we had our list we simply chose the one that was most cost effective for our guests! We had our ceremony on the lawn overlooking the ocean which created a GORGEOUS backdrop for our ceremony. Our reception was suppose to be in a more private section of the lawn area, but it rained so we moved into one of the ballrooms.” – V

PHOTOGRAPHY: Simply Wedding Photography (♥) (simplyweddingphotography.ca) Guelph, ON “I found Jacquie at  The Ring’s Wedding Expo in my city. She was bubbly, kind, welcoming, personable and seemed to know her stuff without being pushy. I liked her work and was excited to see how she would capture the two of us. Working with Jacquie was amazing! We could tell she LOVES her career choice and is dedicated to her clients. She was great with communicating with us and ensuring all our needs were being met. Once we received our sneak peak engagement photos back we knew we 100% made the right choice in picking her! She really captured our love and personalities on camera. It’s like she already knew all of our “good angles”. With our wedding being destination I LOVE how vibrant our photos are! They literally look like postcards!” – V

# GUESTS: 55

BUDGET: $12,000 – $15,000

THEME: “Ombré purple. I had my bridesmaids in 3 shades of purple. Purple has been my favourite colour since I was a little girl and was always my dream wedding colour.” – V

DÉCOR: “I wasn’t very big on décor as I figured the ocean, the palm trees and everything else in Jamaica would be enough! I brought some garland for the arbour, vases for centrepieces and used my bouquets inside of them” – V

FAVOURS: “We did welcome bags. Inside was a Jamaica keychain, a room key cardholder with a coil
band (to wear on your wrist/arm to keep your room key easily accessible) and an ‘I regret nothing bag’ which included things like Advil, emergen-C drink package, bandaids, and a little snack.” – V &A

ADVICE, ONE COUPLE TO ANOTHER: “Our best advice would be to follow your dreams & vision! You will never make everyone happy. Also, go to wedding shows! See what’s out there in your community, join planning groups… there are SO many resources and people who have been through this process who are willing to help and give REAL tips and advice. Most importantly… have fun and try not to stress!” – V&A
