{Real Wedding Story} Gatsby meets Country | Chris & Alicia

BRIDE & GROOM: Chris Payne & Alicia Hachey

WEDDING DATE: September 28th, 2019

VENUE: The Hayloft Dancehall (thehayloftdancehall.com), Picton, ON

PHOTOGRAPHY: Fostered Photo (fosteredphoto.ca) Kitchener, ON “I wanted someone that really felt like an old friend and get along well with everyone. After shooting a couple of weddings with Amy I knew that she was exactly that person. Better yet, she is an old friend from our childhoods. Amy is relaxed but attentive, bubbly without being cliché, accommodating without losing her vision, and her photos demonstrate her talent.”- C

COLOURS: Burgundy, champagne, navy, black and white

THEME: “We wanted it to be similar to a Gatsby party, BUT if it were thrown in a barn, and have it not look like New Year’s Eve. Make sense? Yeah, it didn’t to many of our vendors either. Lol. Alicia wanted to do a rustic barn wedding and is a big fan of country music. I wanted to do something a bit fancier, but I grew up in a century-old farmhouse. It just made sense to get married in a barn but dial it up when it came to everything else.” – C

BUDGET: $50,000

BRIDES ATTIRE: Sherry’s Bridal Boutique (sherrysbridal.net) Caledon, ON

BRIDESMAIDS ATTIRE: David’s Bridal (davidsbridal.ca) Toronto, ON

GROOM & GROOMSMEN ATTIRE: “Our suits were inspired by an interesting fabric called Donegal Tweed. I fell in love with its rugged appearance. It’s speckled with bits of colour spoke to me as I am rugged but creative and expressive.” – C

MAKEUP: Meaghan Gregory Beauty (mgbeauty.ca) Toronto, ON

HAIR: The Royal Treatment (facebook.com/ theroyaltreatmentjk) Oshawa, ON

CATERING, EVENT COORDINATOR & DÉCOR: Seasoned Events (seasonedevents.ca) Picton, ON

DIY: “My favourite décor element was the LED neon sign that I had custom made by Neonific (neonific.com) Mont-Royal, QC. We also loved the cartoon drawing that a friend, Ryan Speziale, made for us. We had it printed very large, framed and used it as our guest book. Alicia also made her bridesmaids’ shawls to wear with their dresses.” – C

FLORAL: Thorn Floral (thornfloral.ca) Toronto, ON

STATIONERY: Paper & Poste (paperandposte. ca) Toronto, ON

FAVOURS: Whiskey barrel-aged maple syrup from Kinsip Distilleries (kinsip.ca) Bloomfield, ON

DJ: Kazoo Ent. (kazooent.ca) Toronto, ON

BIGGEST CHALLENGE: “Deciding how to balance location, aesthetic, and budget. If we stayed closer to Toronto, the costs of venues skyrockets. If we wanted to do something where people would have to travel, with the intention of having them stay over, that presented them with added costs. We also had difficulty finding vendors in Picton, which made bringing in vendors more expensive.” – C
