{Real Wedding Story} French Country meets Shabby Chic

Erin and Matt wanted to bring ‘French Country’ and ‘Shabby Chic’ together for the theme of their outdoor wedding.  Relying on the expertise of their wedding experts, choosing fabulous decor details, and having fun with every element of the planning, it all came together at Matt’s parents’ house (Brantford area) and under a big gorgeous tent…

WEDDING COORDINATOR: Catherine from The Creative Details (www.thecreativedetails.ca)

COLOUR PALETTE: White, light blue and blush

THEME: French country and shabby chic. “I love antiques and a mix of rustic and chic.”

FAV DECOR ELEMENT: “The birdcages with babies breath, and tea cups from my grandparents with english garden roses in them. I also loved the globe lighting inside the tent – it gave it an intimate feeling.”

DIY: “I did all of the chalkboard signs, my husband built the 2 bars out of old barn board and siding of our friends house – he also built the arch that we used for the ceremony. We also painted a large sideboard (from Matt’s Great Aunt) and used it as a desert table.”

BIGGEST CHALLENGE:
“Having a tent wedding is a lot of work in terms of planning and coordination. We booked vendors early and asked them for their advice. Power was probably the biggest challenge and something most people don’t think too much about. Matt’s dad is an electrician and built us a panel, and dug a trench from the main power box to the panel to run power for the caterer, mobile washroom trailer, lighting in the tent, DJ and refrigerated trailer.”

BEST WEDDING MEMORY: “Walking down the isle with my dad and seeing all of our friends and family and meeting Matt at the front.”

ADVICE FROM ONE BRIDE TO ANOTHER: Listen to the professionals. Our caterer told us to do certain things like rent a refrigerated trailer for all of the beer and drinks which made keeping everything cold so much easier. I would also suggest hiring a day of wedding coordinator and let them run the show. Our coordinator was so sweet and kind and did an amazing job keeping everything on time and run smoothly behind the scenes.
