Rachel & Co. brings Beauty & the Beast to life! | Samantha & Joseph

Samantha loves Beauty and the Beast and Joseph loves Samantha! With Beauty and the Beast and an old Hollywood feel in mind Rachel & Co. (rachelandco.ca) was able to bring all of their wedding dreams to life! With lot’s of red roses and the amazing chandeliers at Brookside Banquet Centre, they were able to get the exact feeling they wanted…

Bride & Groom: Samantha & Joseph Aquino

Wedding Date: October 20th, 2018

Ceremony & Reception Location(s): St. Peter’s Cathedral Basilica & Brookside Banquet Centre (brooksidebanquetcentre.ca) in London, Ontario. “Choosing where to say “I do” was never a question. Not only is St. Peter’s our family parish, but ever since I could remember, I’ve always wanted to get married here. The Cathedral is beautiful inside and out! It not only takes your breath away but makes you feel like you’ve traveled back in time. If anyone knows me, they know I’m obsessed with Beauty and the Beast. As soon as I walked in for a viewing of Brooskside, my dreams were set! It was like walking into the Disney ballroom itself. To have our first dance as husband and wife underneath the huge chandelier was going to be the best Disney fairy tale I could ever ask for!” – S

Colour Palette: Black, Red & Gold

Theme: “Our theme was Old Fashion Hollywood, with hints of Beauty and the Beast. Before we found our perfect venue, we had touches of the movie throughout our day. From candelabras, red roses, to our Beauty and the Beast Journal as our guest book. However, when we found our venue, that was the cherry on top of the wedding. For Old Fashion Hollywood, we wanted to make sure we stuck with the clean crisp attire for the men. The men wore black tuxedos with a pop of red in the bow ties; this was just enough to make everyone have the look and feel of Cary Grant. The girls wore long black laced dresses with pearl necklaces; this brought very subtle hints of Audrey Hepburn.” – S&J

Flowers: Forest of Flowers (forestofflowers.com) “We had red roses with no greenery.” – S

Décor: Rachel & Co. (rachelandco.ca) “We couldn’t have asked for a better company! Rachel is AMAZING! Due to our work-life balance, we didn’t have time to do everything we wanted for décor. When we first met with Rachel we laid out our plan along with our budget. Not only were we able to get what we wanted, but Rachel offered so much more within the package provided. Little details to placing rose petals along the head table, to the beautiful layout of our family memorial table. Rachel went above and beyond what we expected. She was always available to chat, responded back quickly, and helped us along our way with other wedding planning questions (non-décor related).  Meeting with her felt like we were having coffee with an old friend. I’ll leave you with one last note. Rachel’s birthday was our wedding day. And instead of letting her crew take charge of clean up afterward, she was there with bells on to help take down! I’m so glad we were able to see her before we had left! She did an amazing job, and we couldn’t thank her enough! Everyone still talks about how beautiful and elegant our reception looked.” – S

Fav décor element: “We can’t decide. Everything we had was just perfect in every way thanks to Rachel. However, I will say if we didn’t have candelabras we would be missing something FOR SURE.” – S

DIY: “We did a couple of things on our own. The table numbers we had were Classic Actors and Actresses. This was to tie in our Old Hollywood Theme. To go along with the table numbers, we also made our own seating chart. I’m super impressed with how well it turned out!” – S

Invitations/stationery: Vistaprint.ca

Cake: Chick Boss Cake (chickbosscake.com)

Wedding favours: “Our favourite Lindt Chocolates packaged in black pillow boxes and wrapped in gold ribbon.” – S&J

Groomsmen and Groom’s attire: Collins Formal Wear (collinsformalwear.com)

Bride’s dress and accessories: “My dress was Oleg Cassini and I wore jewelry that was my great-grandmothers that my mother also wore on her wedding day” – S

DJ: DJ Alpha (djalpha.ca) “From keeping our music selection to classic Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Billie Holiday through dinner and speeches to a full out mix of genres to get everyone in the mood to party. Not only were they able to make my requests work throughout the night, but everyone is still talking about how they rocked the night away.” – S

Hair & make-up: Hair: Diane DeSousa (instagram.com/divaparadise) Makeup: esteem

Catering: Culinary Catering (culinarycatering.ca) “They provided the food and the venue for us. THE FOOD WAS AMAZING! As you can imagine being Portuguese and Italian, the food had to be amazing. No complaints were heard! They even provided more desert for people who requested! We weren’t able to make it for cocktail hour. However I can’t hear enough about how much the house sangria was to die for!” – S

Photographer: Rebel Hearts Photo & Film (rebelheartsphotoandfilm.ca) “There aren’t enough words to express how we feel about Rebel Heart Photo & Film. Eileen & Randy have such creative spirits and the kindest hearts. They’re passion and unique vision captured our wedding in a style that was true to our personalities; our love story was reflected in each shot. Wedding photography was one of the first things we looked into. We searched and searched but nothing was catching our eye. I attended many bridal shows but didn’t really see a stand or portfolio that wowed me until Rebel Heart Photo & Film. Right from our first meeting, Eileen made us feel completely comfortable and showed genuine interest in our ideas and plans for the big day. They went above and beyond what we had expected in a wedding photographer. Not only did they keep in touch throughout our wedding planning but they sent us the cutest care packages, and treated us like family.” – S

Biggest challenge: “Being Portuguese and Italian, getting a guest list was a challenge in itself haha. However, with help from family members, we got it done! I think the biggest challenge was having family members pass away before our big day. It was a hard hit, and we didn’t think we would be able to have a good time. In the end, with all the love and support around us, not only from friends and family but our vendors too; we knew everything would be alright!” – S&J

Fav wedding memory: BOTH: “Dancing the night away. Seeing all our friends and family letting loose and having an amazing time!”

SAMANTHA: ” A few that come to the top of my head is having an amazing father-daughter dance to Metallica’s Nothing Else Matters. I also requested the song Tale as Old as Time. Joseph and I were just coming inside from catching some air and we hear the beginning of the song. I panic and rush out of the elevator. I then rushed into the ballroom like nobody’s business and yelled “NOOOOOO!” Everyone was laughing hysterically including myself. I turn around to grab Joseph and we caught the ending of the song.”

JOSEPH: “The food hands down was the best. However, being able to marry my best friend on our 12th year anniversary was something I’ll never forget.”

Advice from one couple to another: “Do things together. This day is for both of you. Take advantage of the help around you. Wedding’s can be stressful, but if you have trusted people to help you; let them help. BREATH. Take everything in. It’s true that the day will go by in a flash, but if you have a wedding videographer you can capture more than just a moment in time. That’s the one downfall we wish we would have spent the extra money on.” – S&J
