Offering world class service, three wedding spaces to choose from (up to 120 guests), ceremonies on the terrace overlooking the marina, several elopement packages (for 2-12 people), and a unquestionably gorgeous Gulf Island setting, Poet’s Cove everything a bride and groom could want in a destination style wedding resort, right here in Western Canada. Romantic candlelit dinners with ocean views melt into cozy cottages filled with modern amenities – all waiting for the couple who want to marry or honeymoon on Pender Island. Let us tell you more…

Island hopping adventures

Poet’s Cove is located on Pender Island, one of the Gulf Islands situated off of Victoria, Seattle and Vancouver. Ferries are available direct or ‘tourist’ which is how the ferry is described which stops at several Gulf Islands along the way and wows you with the camera worthy scenery the whole time. Poet’s Cove is also easy accessible by sea plane or boat. Though be aware that Canada Customs will have a tiny chat with you if you are entering Canada – so to speak. The Marina is actually viewed as one of the ten best in the Western Hemisphere and boasts constant marine travellers.

Poet’s Cove itself, located on the south side of the island, offers adventures and pampering for all who visit, including fishing, boating and spa services, among other activities. For guests who want to relax, the rooms, cottages and villas make it easy to indulge in some R&R.

Poet’s Cove also treats guests to beautiful pools and private Jacuzzis throughout the property. The resort restaurant, The Aurora, offers world class fare while the Syrens Bistro Lounge allows for indoor or outdoor dining at reasonable prices.

Poet’s Cove & Resort has a lot of offer a couple looking for their wedding venue. Families and friends will enjoy a vacation while attending the wedding. The resort staff and management work hard to make everyone’s time there memorable, bringing guests back over and over again.

Susurrus Spa

The Poet’s Cove Susurrus Spa is something of a famous stop along the Gulf Island with boaters often stopping by to enjoy some time there. The Spa features steam caves, Jacuzzis at the bottom of the waterfall and relaxation lounge. Hot stone massages in the romantic couple’s room are a favorite treat. We especially love the sound of ‘The More the Marry-her’ package which features services for four to twelve for the wedding party.

The infamous ceremony tree…

Poet’s Cove has an amazing courtyard view with a large tree framing where many couples choose to exchange their vows. Time and again, photographers catch wedding couples with their first married kiss framed in front of the famous view of the marina… Afterwards guests and family can simply turn around and enter into the Sea Glass Ballroom. This Ballroom lives up to its name with the one entire glass wall looking out towards the marina. The view to the side is stunning as well where a picturesque waterfall runs down into the courtyard area!

Sought after for elopements

Poet’s Cove is the perfect place for elopements. The Resort has put together packages that suit 2-6 people or 7-12. Any more than that and you have entered wedding territory!

Elopement Package for 2-6 people includes hair and makeup for the bride, turndown service, floral, marriage commissioner, wedding cake, canapés, champagne toast, balcony set up for the ceremony and customized event planning. The Elopement Package for 7-12 includes all of those items – just for a larger crowd.

Erin and her husband, who eloped in March 2015, were so happy with the help they were given. “Our elopement package was customized exclusively for our needs by the wedding coordinator who made all the arrangements for flowers, hair and make-up, room reservations, champagne table, linens and wedding commissioner. The cost for the package was extremely reasonable. Our wedding was perfect and made all the more special by Poet’s Cove staff going above and beyond what was expected. We would not hesitate to recommend Poet’s Cove for an elopement!”

Receptions with a view

Couples who marry at Poet’s Cove can choose between three venue areas for their reception. Most choose the Seaglass Ballroom and Terrace which is right off the ceremony terrace looking out on the marina. The Seaglass Ballroom features an all glass wall looking out into the view where sunsets become a part of reception décor. Up to 120 guests will enjoy the floor to ceiling glass with French doors out to the terrace. This ballroom can also be split into small areas for the more intimate reception.

There is also the Aurora Dining and Wine Room which is the perfect location for up to 18 guests to enjoy an intimate plated dining experience while looking out at the open view of the bay.

The Executive Cottage boasts a very private wedding experience for groups of up to 30 people for a sit down dinner or a ceremony for up to 60 guests. The large lawn and patio area are on a hillside overlooking the bay hosts elopements, rehearsal dinners and ceremonies. In the case of in climate weather, the lobby is cleared out and opened up for ceremonies with the patio doors opened up to the view.

Heather and her husband, who married in Dec 2014, was especially happy with their location choices within the resort. “Our wedding was small and intimate which was perfect for the location and setting. We had our ceremony in the stunning lobby in front of the French doors and proceeded to the villa for our pre-reception drinks and nibbles. Since our wedding was small enough we had our reception in the Aurora which was absolutely stunning. When I walked in it took our breath away. It was warm and cozy with all the candles and exactly what I had envisioned. After the reception we went back to the villa which had been set up for drinks and to get our dance on!”

Poet’s Cove experience…

Poet’s Cove offers an in-house wedding coordinator who will plan with you every detail of your day – from make-up to cleanup! Once a couple reserves a date then the planning begins with a personally guided tour of the facility if you wish. Destination couples can work with their coordinator on-line though visual tours.

Once all the details have been decided then all you and your guests have to do is show up. However, there is help with that as well as the guest services will make arrangements for guests travel as well as activities once on Pender Island.

Heather loved how everything turned out for their day. “The day was just magical with the resort ensuring that they were on top of everything I had outlined for the day. I actually could not have imagined the day running any more smoothly. The resort was so classy in every way and they did not cheap out on anything. I could not have imagined a more perfect day… I feel like the stars aligned!”

A few of our favourite things…

• The beach that stretches out in front of the resort is beautiful.
• The lovely docks that run through the marina area offers great photo ops!
• The waterfall offers a beautiful backdrop to the ceremony terrace.
• Peace and quiet… The only noise you’ll hear at Poet’s Cove is the sound of boats or planes as they come into the bay (which you can watch from your balcony!).
