Nearly every engaged couple across Ontario has seen the stunning image of Melinda Lee & Selam Kaddory (photographed by Spirits Intrigued Photography), because it is the cover of The Wedding Ring Magazine’s Spring Summer 2016 Ontario Edition. But make no mistake, this image isn’t a pair of gorgeous models. This couple is a real Ontario couple who say their wedding was anything but typical.

“We planned it and accomplished it all within a two month time period. We wanted something very small and intimate, mainly for our immediate family so we actually did not have a lot of the typical wedding things.”

BRIDE & GROOM: Melinda Lee & Selam Kaddory
PHOTOGRAPHY: Spirits Intrigued Photography (sipimage.com)
WEDDING DATE: September 18, 2015
CEREMONY LOCATION: London City Hall
RECEPTION LOCATION: London Hunt and Country Club (londonhuntclub.com)

GROOM ATTIRE: Hudson’s Bay (thebay.com)

BRIDE ATTIRE: Kleinfeld’s Bridal Boutique Canada (kleinfeldbridal.ca)

COLOUR PALETTE: White and cream with soft pastels mixed in. Purple was the accent colour.

FLORALS: Our flowers were done by London wedding florist, Jim Anderson Flowers Ltd in London, ON. We had shades of white and cream with muted pastels mixed in with a pop of purple in each arrangement.

Who did you hire for your décor and what did you use? The only décor we had at the reception was the flower arrangements. However, the staff at the Hunt Club really made our room look beautiful with the way they laid it out. It was simple, elegant and clean in shades of white.

CAKE: I had the Hunt Club pastry chef make our cake. We collaborated on ideas and came up with a cake that was very light and airy. It was like a fancy strawberry shortcake which was my fathers favourite kind of cake. It was cream coloured with a kind of layered-ribbon vibe. It had some pastel coloured flowers on top. Again, very simple and elegant.

Our photographer was Alex Budinski from Spirits Intrigued Photography. We were referred to him from a friend of a friend. As soon as we met him we knew he would be perfect. He totally understood what we wanted and was very flexible. We had a non traditional wedding and wedding day but he still managed to capture it perfectly. We are really happy with his images.

Any advice for couples planning their wedding? Don’t take it so seriously! Relax, have fun and trust your gut. Make choices that are best for you and your partner and don’t worry so much about what you think everyone else wants.
