Reality Wedding Story | Maeve & Jarrod’s wedding theme was elegant, modern and classic. “We conveyed this through our colour palette [cream, blush & silver], decor and wedding party attire.” From a 30 foot head table backdrop of sheer ivory to a head to gorgeous tablescapes filled with florals, this London area wedding was to die for.
Bride & Groom: Maeve Bucciarelli and Jarrod De Wit
Wedding Date: July 30, 2016
Locations: “The ceremony was held at Christ the King University Parish at Windermere on the Mount. We both went to Western University and this chapel is part of the university which was meaningful to us. The reception was at Firerock Golf Club (firerockgolf.com) and we fell in love with the space! Firerock was flexible with their options so we could customize our meal and reception the way we wanted and Mel, the coordinator at Firerock, is fantastic, she has so much knowledge and expertise in the London Wedding scene that was an asset.”
Décor: “We also used Patzees Floral Scapes for our decor. Patzees decorated the head table, welcome table and cake table, created centrepieces as well as a stunning backdrop for the head table. The head table included lots of silver and candles over rose gold sequined table linens. The backdrop was definitely the highlight! Patzee used a 30 foot backdrop of sheer ivory. Over the table she used a 16 ft bar with flowers, crystals and hanging baubbles.”
Fav décor element: “The flowers were absolutely stunning and lasted for days beyond the wedding!”
OUR DIY: “One project we took on was the stationary. Jarrod created the design for our programs, and my Mom and I worked together to create the place cards, menus and seating chart.
We also created our own welcome baskets for guests staying at the hotel. Guests in each room received a basket when they checked in with information for each of the events (cocktails Friday night, Ceremony, shuttles, reception and brunch), a bottle of wine, water, and snacks. I got so much positive feedback from guests about how much they loved this special touch at check-in!
We created a kissing menu that was used as a game at the reception! This ended up being SO much fun! I couldn’t believe how much singing talent came out from our guests and the fun that was added to the reception from this game!”
Bridesmaids attire and accessories: Dresses were Haley Paige Occassions from Petrov Bridal (petrovbridal.com) “I fell in love with the look of these dresses, because of their simplicity and elegance. This combined with the cream hydrangeas and hint of blush roses really helped make our vision come across.”
Bride’s dress and accessories: “My dress was a Madison James ball gown, with the bodice beaded in Swarovski crystals. I truly felt like a princess in this gown! My earrings were from a boutique in St. Jacobs, bracelet was Swarovski and shoes were Michael Kors. My veil was ordered from a boutique in the USA and my hair piece was from Taylor’s Bridal (in Elmira).”
Unique Elements: First, we did a dove release outside the church after the ceremony! Second, Jarrod’s Dad remodelled a Volkswagen Cabriolet convertible that we used as our getaway car. Having those few moments to be together driving after the ceremony was so special.
Photographer: Nova Markina Photography (novamarkina.com) “When we got engaged I didn’t have any friends who had recently gotten married in London to ask for references, so I began researching at Bridal Shows and online! I looked through a ton of photographers before I came across Nova. When looking at her portfolio I loved how natural all of her bridal couple poses were and the feel of her work…
“We met with Nova to see if we would be a good fit and hit it off immediately. Working with Nova was one of the best parts of the day for us! She completely put us at ease and made us feel amazing from start to finish.”
Biggest Challenge: “The biggest challenge was finding a way to have the wedding of my dreams within our budget for the day. Our approach to make our dream wedding come true was to splurge on the things that were most important to us and be reasonable with other things. For example, the dress meant everything to me and it had to be what I envisioned. On the other hand, we were able to do some of the stationary ourself which saved on the paper budget.”
“Seeing my beautiful bride for the first time walking down the aisle and getting to see her in her pretty dress.” – Jarrod
“Feeling the overwhelming joy and happiness that I felt during our ceremony. Walking down the aisle and seeing Jarrod at the altar, while being surrounded by all of our closest family and friends was an incredible feeling.” – Maeve
Advice from one Bride to another: Firstly, being organized ahead of time will save you stress on the day of. Plan ahead and make a schedule for yourself, and each of your vendors so everyone is on the same page and the day will run as smoothly as possible.
Secondly, keep the end in mind. You are planning the biggest party of your life and you are going to be surrounded by countless friends and family who are all there to wish you the best. Try not to get frustrated by working out the details and just focus on the love you have for each other and how amazing the day will be when it arrives.
