{reality wedding story} Beautiful Beachside Wedding at The Lakeview, Hamilton

Megan & Eric's Beach Wedding at The Lakeview |Photo: Have Heart Photography

Captured by Have Heart Photography, taking place at a breathtaking lakeside venue and ceremony spot (The Lakeview by Carmen’s), this wedding is absolutely lovely. A colour palette of mint, coral, pink and gold was used to tie in with Eric and Megan’s laid-back, rustic wedding style. Megan also used a lot of pastel colours in the Spring event, incorporating chalk art and working in wooden décor wherever possible. The finished product was a wonderful Hamilton-area wedding that we completely fell in love with

BRIDE & GROOM: Megan Parker and Eric Chomitz
WEDDING DATE: May 29th, 2015

CEREMONY & RECEPTION LOCATION: The Lakeview by Carmen’s in Hamilton (carmenslakeview.com) “We wanted a beautiful, unique location. We were able to get married on a beach overlooking the lake. The actual building itself was stunning and I knew as soon as I walked into it that it was perfect. It had large windows offering views of the lake, and was large enough to accommodate all of our guests. It fit our budget as well, and they had some great packages which made things much easier for us to plan.”

PHOTOGRAPHY: Have Heart Photography (haveheartphotography.ca) “Have Heart Photography came recommended to me. I chose them because their portfolio was stunning, and I loved the thought of having two photographers. They took some absolutely stunning photos – my favourite photos for sure had to be the ones of us out on the rocks overlooking the lake.”

FLORALS: Memory Lane Flowers (memorylaneflowers.ca)
“Memory Lane Flowers located in Sydenham, ON. My mother and sister in law were fabulous and found this place near where they live. They worked with them to create our flowers and they turned out beautiful, at a very reasonable price.”

STATIONARY: 14 Royal Wedding & Event Invitations (14royal.com)
DJ: DJ Maclean (facebook.com/DJMackLean)
GROOM & GROOMSMEN ATTIRE: Moores Clothing for Men (mooresclothing.com)
BRIDE ATTIRE: David’s Bridal (davidsbridal.ca)
BRIDESMAID ATTIRE: Jealous Bridesmaids (jealousbridesmaids.com)

HAIR & MAKEUP: Pretty in Pink Mobile Makeup & Hair (prettyinpink-mobilemakeup.com“We used Pretty in Pink Mobile Makeup & Hair for both hair and make-up. It was really important to me that we had a team come to us on the wedding day rather than going to a salon. We got ready at my aunt’s house so we got to lounge around in the morning in our robes and took turns getting ready. Everyone looked fantastic!”

DÉCOR: “The venue had an option where they would provide the décor, but it was something I have always wanted to do myself. In the cocktail area we had photos of Eric and I as children. For the tables my talented father in law created the table numbers out of wood, which I painted to match my colour palette. We also had glass vases with submerged flowers and candles floating on top. I did a lot of chalkboard signs – at the ceremony (“The First Day, The Yes Day, The Best Day” with all of the corresponding dates), our seating chart, a small sign honouring those who couldn’t be there that day, and one at the bar. I had a lot of fun with the decorations and really enjoyed making the venue our own. My favourite décor element was the chalkboard sign I made for the ceremony. I wanted something we could hang in our house one day, so it was perfect. It listed the dates of the first day we met (“The First Day”), the day Eric proposed (“The Yes Day”), and our wedding day (“The Best Day”).”

DIY PROJECTS: “I tried to DIY as much as possible. I’ve always loved crafts so I was really looking forward to this! All of the décor on the wedding day was DIY, and I love that I still have most of these mementos to incorporate into our home. Thank goodness for Pinterest!”

GUESTBOOK: I created a photo book on mixbook.com. It was a great way to use our engagement photos and some of our favourite pictures together.

BEST WEDDING MEMORY: It’s so hard to pinpoint just one! I would have to say the ceremony. That walk with my Dad was something I’ve always dreamed of, and it was such a special moment. When I turned the corner and saw Eric waiting for me and his reaction, it’s something I’ll never forget!

Advice, from one bride to another:

There will be a lot of people with a lot of opinions about your wedding, but you have to keep in mind that it’s your day. Try and stay true to what you really want and what would make you happiest. The day goes by much too quickly. Try and take a few private moments to let it all sink in!
