Reviewing Kitchener-Waterloo wedding venue, The Inn of Waterloo & Conference Centre
Most residents of the Waterloo Region are no stranger to the iconic Waterloo Inn. With a new name, new management, fresh renovations, multiple ballrooms, indoor and outdoor ceremony options, outdoor courtyards, green space and fabulous event staff, the now-named Inn of Waterloo and Conference Centre is once again everyone’s favourite venue for local weddings in the years to come.
Staff at the Ring sat down with Dominique Mercer, Sales and Catering Coordinator, to learn more about what this venue has to offer couples.
The Inn of Waterloo Team…
A beautifully renovated, contemporary hotel, The Inn of Waterloo & Conference Centre offers a 50-year tradition of excellence. Located on King Street North in midtown Waterloo, the Inn overlooks a scenic 14-acre conservation creek, making it a picturesque wedding venue.
Part of what makes this venue work so well for weddings and events is the people. The Inn of Waterloo team consists of the chef, sales and catering coordinator, and guest services representatives. Together, they deliver a superior guest experience, while ensuring a memorable day.
“Our events team will be with the couple from the beginning of the day until the end. They’ll ensure that everything runs smoothly – from carrying lipstick to filling your wine glass,” explains Dominique. Our onsite wedding planner, who is certified with WIPC, assists with all the planning. “As for the menu, Chef Myles will create the menu of choice in a beautiful presentation with the taste and quality to match.”
Chef Myles is well respected in the industry and has over twenty years of experience., She recently returned to her roots in the Kitchener-Waterloo area and according to Dominique, she sees that things are better than ever at The Inn of Waterloo.
“Hundreds of people have shared their vows, enjoyed their first meal as a couple, danced the night away in this Waterloo landmark and Chef is very proud to be a part of the amazing team to bring the building back to life and create memories for others.”
“We were able to work with both Dominique and Melissa and they were both amazing,” says Stacy Hornburg.
“Dominique was our main contact for planning our wedding, she was always there to answer any of our questions and flexible to meet up with when needed. She was very knowledgeable when it came to wedding planning and gave us great advice whenever we were unsure about something. Dominique organized and ran through our rehearsal and made sure we were all comfortable for the big day.” According to Stacy, Dominique and Melissa were available on both the Friday and Saturday of her wedding and they made everything run seamlessly.
“When my train on my dress broke they were both there with safety pins to fix it before I even asked, if we were in a conversation without a beverage Dominique always made sure we were good so we didn’t have to leave our guests or just checking in to make sure we were enjoying our night. Dominique, Melissa, and all of the Inn of Waterloo staff were amazing.”
About the Inn of Waterloo & Conference Centre…
“In 2016, we re-opened the KW area iconic hotel as The Inn of Waterloo & Conference Centre. The last few years have seen many renovations and improvements to guest rooms, public spaces, pool, and outside areas,” says Dominique. “We have hosted many events including weddings and are ready to welcome couples and make their dreams come true.”
Providing tailored services to meet all the requests of their clients – from evening cocktail weddings to formal sit-down dinners and everything in between. The team’s goal is to fulfil the dreams of every bride and groom.
“We offer guestrooms which means that family and friends can celebrate together sooner and longer,” says Dominique. The Inn can accommodate up to 600 guests and aside from hosting the wedding event, the Inn also caters to rehearsal dinners and bridal brunches. “With so many spaces to choose from our brides and grooms will be sure to find a space to make their vision of a beautiful wedding come to light.”
The Inn of Waterloo offers ceremony space on-site – both indoors and outdoors including a courtyard and green space. Dominique explains, “From our Viennese Ballroom to our Regent room including small rooms for more intimate ceremonies we have the space to tailor to any need. We are versatile and can work with everyone’s vision and budget to ensure they have a memorable day.”
Dominique feels that couples choose The Inn of Waterloo because of the venue’s services and ability to adapt to the needs of the couple. “We are a one-stop-shop – from rehearsal dinner, overnight accommodations, ceremony site, picturesque photo sites, dinner, and reception venue to after the wedding brunch – we can do it all and no one has to leave the building.”
When asked what her biggest reason for coming to work is, Dominique says it’s watching the day unfold. “Seeing the smiles of the bride and groom celebrating with their guest and knowing we’re a part of making their special day memorable by delivering their vision. We love working with all brides and grooms as we are able to customize our wedding packages and rooms to bring all visions to life.”
