About Day 2 Knight…
Ever since watching “The Wedding Planner”, Dan Knight, Owner and Operator of Day 2 Knight Events, knew that event and wedding planning was his dream job. With a passion for helping people and planning events, the career was a perfect fit. In August of 2009, Dan opened Day 2 Knight Events in London, Ontario as a full service event and wedding planning business. Having worked with not-for profit organizations and other clients organizing events prior to opening his own business, Dan finally decided to devoted all his time and energy to his own business in August 2017.
Alicia, who got married on June 16, 2012, use to be a wedding planner herself. Dan knew how picky she was to details “Dan is the type of event coordinator that other wedding planners hire for their own big day,” admits Alicia.
A graduate of the Event Management program at Mount Royal University in Calgary, Dan also has his International Event & Wedding Planning Professional (IEWP) and International Wedding Planning Professional (IWPP) designations from the QC School of Event Planning & QC School of Wedding Planning.
“I love that every single couple and wedding are different and unique,” admits Dan. “I also love and am inspired by all the amazing fellow wedding professionals I get to work with to help the clients create the day of their dreams.” Dan also stays current with the latest trends to be able to make suggestions when clients ask for his advice. “The biggest thing that keeps me planning weddings is being able to relieve the stress from the couple so that they can enjoy their day as guests at their own wedding.”
On August 28th, 2015, Dan was there at Sarah Popieul wedding and she and her husband have no regrets hiring Dan. They choose him because he was calm, efficient and detail oriented. “Dan is just such a nice guy that it was really simple and relaxing meeting with him,” Sarah admits. “He was always willing to talk and made each conversation very comfortable.”
“Brides choose me and my business as my personality and passion for helping people and planning their wedding shows as I give 110% in everything I do. I’m able to have fun throughout the planning process as I tend to add a bit of humour into my work when appropriate and can be very serious when needed. Being able to make the process fun while some brides are really stressed allows them to calm down and really enjoy every minute of the process,” Dan says.
Jessica, who got married on August 13, 2010, loved how Dan would organize and conduct appointments. All she had to do was tell him when she was available.
“I’m very flexible and easy going and will do whatever it takes to make that vision a reality. It’s all about making the client happy. I also like to inject some humour into my service to help ease the nerves and stress that sometimes come along with the planning process.”
For the day of coordination package, Dan meets with the couple for the consultation, a couple of times leading up to the big day and then again the week before the wedding to go over any last minute details. He also attends the rehearsal if they are having one and is available to meet the key people involved in the wedding to get a good grasp of the flow of the ceremony.
For the full planning package, Dan attends any and all meetings the couple invite him too.
“My first task is to work on a budget so we have something to work from,” explains Dan, adding that he uses the budget to remind his clients what they’re spending.
Day 2 Knights’ most popular service is the day of wedding coordination service because couples want someone available to take care of all the details so they can enjoy themselves instead of worrying. Not only is Dan’s friendly and helpful approach well received by his clients, other wedding professionals who have worked with Dan also enjoy working with him.
“I’m a friendly guy that loves connecting with people especially when it comes to turning their vision for their wedding into reality. I’m the type of person that helps people plan their special day by giving them advice throughout the process and offer my opinions when asked but know that ultimately it’s their day and their money paying for the wedding so am very respectful and not pushy at all.”

On the day of the wedding…
On the day of the wedding, Dan arrives at predetermined time, often with a list in hand of specific things the soon-to-be-married couple has asked Dan to check. He checks in with the bride and groom to ensure everyone is ready or if they need anything. He then checks the ceremony space to make sure it’s set up and ready to go. He then checks the set up or status of the reception room to ensure everything is on track. Connecting with fellow wedding professionals working on the wedding, Dan touches base with them to make sure they have everything they need to make the day go perfectly. If the couple has requested that Dan distribute final payment to vendors and thank you cards, he also does this prior to the start of the ceremony.
When the ceremony time gets closer, Dan helps the bridal party line up and helps the bride fluff her dress as she gets ready to walk down the aisle. During the ceremony, Dan connects with key team members responsible for the reception to ensure everything is on track.
“I tell my clients I will do whatever they need me to do to make sure they are as stress free as possible and able to be a guest at their own wedding,” explains Dan.
“I hired Day 2 Knight services for my rehearsal and for the day of. It was last minute and all my planning was basically done. For the brides coming close to their big day without an event coordinator, I strongly recommend hiring someone like Dan to come in to give you the peace of mind. It was amazing knowing that I had him there to solve any issues that arose. I’m sure a few things went array (there’s always something), but his job was to make sure I never knew about it!” explains Alicia.
