A classic vintage wedding for Lisa and Brandon at Galt Country Club

Photography: Gary Evans Photography (geweddings.ca) | Lisa and Brandon wanted a classic wedding with vintage elements throughout. With a colour palette of wine, purple and silver, a flowy backdrop and white dahlias, they got everything they wanted…

Bride & Groom: Lisa Crozier and Brandon Stencell

Wedding Date: September 23rd, 2017

Ceremony & Reception Location: Galt Golf and Country Club (galtcountryclub.com)

“The grounds and the Clubhouse were what we fell in love with. The ceremony overlooking the river was just what we were looking for. It was beautiful and we could have everything in once place which was convenient for us and our guests. The Coordinator Caitlin is absolutely amazing and was awesome in working with our budget and what we wanted.” – L&B

Colour Palette: Wine, purple and Silver

Theme: Classic English vintage. “Our theme was simple and we didn’t want anything over the top.” – L&B

Flowers: Charmed Flowers (charmedflowers.net) in Waterloo. “Haley did an amazing job. I told her what I wanted and that she could have creative freedom with the arrangements. We had a variety of purples and white that was more wild looking, but the main focus was the wine Dahlias” – L

Décor: The Creative Bride (creativebride.ca) “Kim did our back drop for the evening. She was absolutely wonderful and amazing with what she came up with. We both wanted something with some lights and just light Ivory drapery. I have (and still do) had some many people comment on how beautiful is was and how it tied the room together.” – L

Fav décor element: “The flowers!” – L

DIY: “I handmade the invitations with one of my bridesmaids and although they took a long time to complete they turned out amazing and exactly what we wanted” – L

Cake: “A friend baked cupcakes and a main cake for us” – L&B

Wedding favours: Lindt Chocolate truffles. “When Brandon and I first started dating back in high school, he bought me white chocolate truffles for Christmas and my birthday. Ever since then it has been a tradition with us and we wanted to give these to our guests.” – L

Groomsmen and Groom’s attire: Moores Clothing for Men (mooresclothing.com)

Bridesmaids attire and accessories: David’s bridal (davidsbridal.ca)

Bride’s dress and accessories: David’s Bridal (davidsbridal.ca)

Officiant:Brianne Jourdin (briannejourdinofficiant.com) was our officiant and we had met with her 3 or 4 times before the wedding. During these meetings we got to know her and she got to know us, which helped her get a feel for who we were as a couple (and as individuals). She took input from us about how we envisioned the ceremony, and she took notes on everything we said. When the day came she presented flawlessly. The ceremony was quick (as we desired) and her readings (non-religious per our request) were fantastic. We would highly recommend her.” – L&B

DJ: Spin Doctor Productions (spindoctorproductions.com)”We met with the owner Mike who was a great personal fit for both of us. Rock music is one of our favourite genres, and while he can do it all, he was able to relate to several of the bands we love which is increasingly rare these days. After our meeting it was a no brainer to go with Spin Doctor. It was a bonus that they fell within our budget at a very reasonable price. DJ Brent was there on our wedding day and he absolutely nailed it. He was able to find some acoustic tracks that we had trouble locating ourselves, and picked a great selection of songs through the night that kept the dance floor lively. We would absolutely recommend this fantastic group to anyone.” – L&B

Hair & make-up: Halo Hair Studio (halohair.ca) in Cambridge

Photographer: Gary Evans Photography (geweddings.ca)

“We found Gary at a bridal show. We spoke with him and instantly hit it off on a personal level. He matched up well with our personalities and was very professional. He showed us samples of previous work that we loved, so we knew he would be the perfect choice for our wedding. Working with Gary was fantastic! He has a great sense of humour and made the photo process enjoyable for us. Our favourite part of the photos is split between the first look that Gary offered up as a suggestion (which allowed us to spend more time with our guests after the ceremony), his creative silhouette photos, and the awesome DVD slideshow that he put together to capture the events of the evening. To top it all off, the photos were provided to us in a very nice package along with a nice surprise to go along with the DVD (don’t want to spoil this for anyone, but he provided us with beer and wine for us to enjoy while we sat and watched).” – L&B

Local couples choose Gary Evans Photography for epic, wall-worthy photographs and a bit of cheeky British humour on the side. Check out his review in The Ring.

Biggest Challenge: “My  biggest challenge was trying to stop focusing on all of the small things. It was far too easy to fall into the trap of worrying over minute details, but Brandon was able to keep me grounded and help me focus on what was actually important.” -L

Fav wedding memory: “The first look before the ceremony was the best memory for both of us. It was a private way to see each other beforehand which allowed for a much more intimate experience. Lisa met me out on the golf course where I had my back turned before getting to see her. It was a very enjoyable moment.” – B

Advice from one couple to another: “Keep things simple, don’t stress yourself out trying to make everything perfect or too complicated simple is best, it will keep yourselves less stressed.” – L&B
