{Reality Wedding Story} Cozy Romance with Candlelight, Fireplaces and Rustic Touches

Deanna and Sean looked at several locations but when they visited Whistle Bear Golf Club, they were blown away. The feel of the location is exactly what they were going for; cozy fire places, wood fixtures, and beautiful big windows for perfect lighting. Everything they needed for a cozy, romantic wedding day…

Bride & Groom: Deanna & Sean Lowry

Wedding Date:  February 4th, 2017

Ceremony & Reception Location: Whistle Bear Golf Club (whistlebear.ca)

Theme: “Our theme was romantic & cozy. Whistle Bear on its own really demonstrated our theme. We really did not need much decor. A cozy fire place when you walk in really set the feel for our wedding. We were in the Forest View room on the second floor of WB. When you walk in, we had a lot of tea lights which set a very romantic feel. We used wine bottles in our decor with a cork board seating chart. But as soon as you walk into the room, the whole wall is full of windows looking out onto the sunset of the golf course. It was truly magical!”

“He blew my expectations out the window. We found Gary through a mutual friend, and he was highly recommended. We first met with Gary and we talked about everything we were looking for, this meeting was super easy. He left us with no questions as he answered all of them before I even had the chance to ask them. Working with Gary was super easy, calm & fun! I would say Gary isn’t just a photographer, he is a planner! He outlined my entire day for me, from start to finish. Gary was great about having to take photos in the middle of February. He was a trooper! He goes above and beyond.”

“Our flowers were amazing!  I have known Brandy since before she started La Petit Fleur and I honestly could not imagine her doing anything else. She is SO amazing at what she does, and listens to what you are looking for and she certainly delivers! It was so romantic & whimsical! I highly, highly recommend Brandy!”
DIY Decor: “I did all the decor myself (with the help of my 8 bridesmaids & mothers!) other than my flowers. My in laws own a restaurant in the area & I was lucky enough to take home the empty wine bottles to use for my decor. I spray painted 3 bottles navy, rose gold, & grey. I also bought cute tiny tea light holders from Ikea to place with the wine bottles. I created my own place cards & made a cork board seating chart that may have taken me a few hours to make but it turned out beautiful!”
Favourite Decor Element: One hundred percent the two huge flower urns from Le Petite Fleur. They were the two big centerpieces for my wedding that really captured everyone’s eyes!
Favours: Espresso cup filled with “confetti” – an Italian tradition

Groomsmen and Groom’s attire: Moore’s Clothing for Men (mooresclothing.com)

Bride’s Fashion: Sophies Gown Shoppe (sophiesgownshoppe.com) Pearl earrings & necklace my mother in law & grandmother in law wore to their wedding

Bridesmaids’ Fashion: Ballet’s Bridal (balletts.com)

Hair & Make-Up: Hair by Kaitlin Wagler & Make-Up by Hannah Freund

Biggest Challenge: “I would say the biggest challenge would be the late nights planning! We also have a 1 year old that didn’t sleep well through the nights, so being able to tackle being parents & planning a wedding was super difficult! Luckily my mother & mother-in-law were my angels. They helped me so much throughout all the planning, I wouldn’t have been able to do it without them!”

Best Memory: “Other than marrying the love of my life, I would say just sharing this important part of our lives with everyone. Being able to chat over food & wine, and then having the best dance party ever was enough fun to last us a lifetime. I am so appreciative that everyone joined in and joined the fun!”

Advice from One Bride to Another:

“Do ‘First Look’ photos! Ours started at 11 am. We had an extra THREE hours to spend with our entire wedding party… It also eased the pressure off of meeting each other at the alter (I am extremely emotional, I would have cried way too much at the altar!). We were able to have drinks & some snacks beforehand, AND we also got WAY MORE photos out of it!”
