Bridal Show Need-to-Knows: Gown Shopping 101

With The Wedding Ring's Fall Bridal Expo coming up this weekend- and some fabulous gown sales happening at the event- we wanted to give brides some tips to make shopping at a show fun, easy and stress-free.

And, who better to talk to about a sample sale than Rose Schuett, Owner of Couture Threads Bridal & Event Dressing in Stratford.

Here are some of Roses' favourite do's and don'ts when it comes to gown shopping at bridal shows.

1. If you want a good deal, it's important to come prepared. This means that you should be ready to make a decision on the spot. Most show sales apply to the show only, so this is your chance to find something fabulous at a great price.

2. With that said, it's a good idea to bring everyone along who you would otherwise bring to a gown shop. You'll want the important people in you life with you as you search for the perfect dress.

3. Dresses are almost always "cash and carry." That means you'll want to bring cash with you (most shows don't have interac access) photo: Anne Edgar Photographyand, be prepared to take your dress home that day.

4. Come with a clear idea of what you want. If you're unsure, keep an open mind...you might fall in love with something totally unexpected!

5. Shopping at a show isn't for the faint of heart. Remember that you'll have to make a decision there and then. But, if you're prepared, it's a great opportunity to take advantage of deep discounts (on average, most gowns are 50% to 70% off!).

Don't forget to visit Rose @ the Couture Threads booth and the lovely team at La Creme at their booth to check out the sample sales this weekend. You'll find tons of brands like Maggie Sotero and Paloma Silks. And it's a great idea to bring your mom! Mother of the Bride dresses will be available at deep discounts as well!
