Planning ideas for a fairytale wedding: Cakes, castles, couture & carriages

Article by Carla @ The Ring

Back in February we received an email from a recently engaged bride-to-be who told us she was doing a fairytale wedding. She was looking for ideas on a "princess and the frog" type of theme; so, over the past two months, we pondered and researched and came up with some ideas for her, and other future brides looking for unique ways to add a fairytale twist to their wedding day.

Here's some royally sweet ideas from cakes and castles to couture and carriages...

Castles & carriages

First thing's first, once you've chosen the date, you need to choose a venue fit for a princess. Unfortunately, this part of Ontario is not know for its historic castles; but, we do have a few castle-like venues that fit the bill. Some that come to mind for us are:

The Old Court House in London (pictured above and right; photos courtesy of Culinary Catering) and...

the Best Western St. Jacobs Country Inn, which is just on the edge of Waterloo, and pictured to the left.

If you're going to have a castle-like venue, then you definitely need to arrive in style à la Cinderella (minus the whole pumpkin aspect) in a horse drawn carriage instead of a limo. NithRidge Estate Weddings & Events is an outdoor ceremony and reception location that just happens to have such transportation. There's also Canterbury Horse & Carriage in Toronto, to name just a couple.
